Ares

In the 2020s, France's economy collapses and corporations buy the national debt. Unemployment soars and the largest homeless encampment forms under the Eiffel Tower. The government remains nominally a republic, but real power sits with the corporations.

Doping and human experimentation are legalized as part of the new order. A sponsor-driven sports system emerges with pharmaceutical companies testing drugs on athletes.

Reda, a boxer fighting under the alias Ares, suffers an injury and loses his corporate sponsor. He is pushed into brutal cage matches and takes additional jobs for Altman.

During civil unrest, corporate police hire unemployed temporary workers like Reda as riot guards. He sees his niece taken into a police van and manages to free her.

Carla is framed for illegal pistol possession and branded a terrorist. Altman demands a €100,000 bribe to save her, forcing Reda to undergo HSX drug trials.

Reda leaves Carla's children with his neighbor Myosotis, a cross-dressing prostitute who believes Reda to be a fascist. Despite their fraught history, she agrees to help for the kids' sake.

The CEO arranges a showdown against a highly-ranked fighter who has had his nervous system tweaked to feel no pain. Reda wins the 12:1 bout, propelling HSX into a sensation and boosting his leverage.

Reda uses his prize money to try to free Carla, but she dies in prison while attempting to save another inmate. Altman offers to return the money, but Reda asks her to use it to uncover who framed Carla.

Anouk's hacker ally Boris provides evidence implicating Reda's coach in Carla's framing, escalating the corporate power struggle and tightening Altman's grip.

Reda returns to the arena for a second fight, but goes down in 17 seconds and the earlier win is dismissed as a fluke. HSX sales tumble and Reda's coach is financially ruined by the fallout.

Reda tells his coach that he did not take HSX in the earlier fight and had thrown it intentionally. He saves the drug to administer to the coach, who dies after the injection.

Anna informs Reda that Altman plans to kidnap Carla's children. Reda agrees to a boardroom demonstration, while Myosotis grows suspicious and Anouk tips her off to Reda's gratitude, pushing her to seek help from Boris.

Boris and Myosotis rescue Carla's children and kill Altman, striking a major blow to the corporation's control over the population.

Reda uses HSX to force the chief executive out of a window, signaling a turning point in the corporate power struggle. Anna's two engineered bodyguards are kept alive to continue drug trials and die in the confrontation.

With five minutes left, Reda helps Boris hack the mainframe to reveal that over 30,000 people died in HSX trials. Reda, knowing his nieces' safety depends on his death, commits suicide. Boris later hijacks advertising screens to reveal HSX's failures and Reda's death, triggering massive riots across France.
