Fifteen years pass, and a devastating pandemic has decimated most of humanity, leading to societal collapse. Paul and his twin sons, Joseph and Thomas, now live in a derelict farmhouse, struggling to survive.

As night falls, Paul and his sons shelter from monstrous, photophobic creatures that roam outside. Joseph and Thomas display markedly different personalities, with Thomas being the thrill-seeker and Joseph showing intellectual tendencies.

During dinner, the family hears loud banging from the cellar, which eventually ceases. This unnerving event prompts Paul to take precautions to protect their home from the lurking threats outside.
