Anthropophagous 2000

Nikos Karamanlis, his pregnant wife Martha, and their daughter Vicky are stranded on a yacht in the open sea. Vicky dies of injuries sustained during the ship's sinking. The surviving parents cling to life as danger and grief press in on them.

Nikos tries to convince Martha to cannibalize their bodies to survive. Martha violently objects, and during a struggle she is accidentally stabbed by Nikos. Their moral collapse begins in the tense lifeboat scenario.

To sustain himself, Nikos consumes his wife Martha and his daughter Vicky's bodies. The act enables him to survive long enough for his raft to drift toward land. The lifeboat journey ends with a return to shore near his homeland.

The raft reaches the village outskirts of Borgo San Lorenzo in Tuscany, Italy. Driven by guilt, Nikos moves into a nearby cave and begins to descend into murderous impulses. He becomes a serial killer in the solitude of the cave.

Nikos's sister Irena offers reluctant help in carrying out killings and cannibalism. Her involvement signals a growing family complicity in the horrifying actions. The two operate from the cave as their victims multiply.

Nikos expands his target list to outsiders and kills the vacationing couple Mary and Stuart. Their deaths mark the spread of his murderous campaign beyond the immediate family. The village senses a threat creeping in from the margins.

Nikos continues his killing spree by murdering a pair of campers, Hank and Allan. The violence spills into the surrounding wilderness and edges closer to the village.

Georg Stockmann, Rita, Marc, Vincent, Caroll, and Auriet confront RV trouble just outside the village. They find the vehicle abandoned with scattered corpses, Mary’s blind sister Auriet and Irena hiding nearby. Irena, fleeing Georg, leaves behind a chilling message: 'Go away.'

Irena commits suicide in front of Georg, Rita, Marc, and Auriet, eliminating a potential witness to the killers' actions. Her death deepens the crush of secrecy surrounding Nikos's crimes. The truth of the village's terror becomes more dangerous to confront.

Georg finds Nikos's journal, which chronicles the terrible past and the crimes Nikos has committed. While Georg reads, Carroll's husband Stan arrives in the village and is greeted by Marc. The two men decide to search for Carroll together.

Nikos kills Marc as the search party moves toward the cave. He then follows Stan toward the cave, closing in on his next victims. The chase intensifies the deadly threat lingering in the area.

In the cave, Nikos reveals his traumatic past to Stan and Carroll and then kills them, tearing out and eating Carroll’s unborn child. The brutal confession underscores the depth of his madness. The victims add to the toll inside the cave.

Nikos slays Auriet and Rita, victims in Georg’s circle. A confrontation erupts, and Georg shoots Nikos in the torso, wounding him. The killer descends into a frenzy, gnawing at his own innards as the fight continues.

Georg overpowers Nikos and decapitates him with a shovel, ending the killer’s reign of terror. Nikos pleads to be released as his life comes to a brutal close. The village is left to confront the carnage he wrought.

Interpol agent Doctor Steven Bauers is brought to Nikos's cave and discovers Georg’s cellphone and Nikos’s journal, including the extra entries. He is then shot in the face by an unseen assailant, presumably Georg, sealing the mystery of the journal’s final pages.
