Shivani Chopra, an Air India hostess, meets Vijay Agnihotri, a wealthy industrialist, who is instantly infatuated with her. Shivani rejects his advances and makes clear she has no interest in him. Vijay informs his mother Padma that he will only marry Shivani, setting up the future conflict.

When Vijay’s family approaches Shivani’s relatives for her hand, it becomes clear that she plans to marry Ashok Chopra, an Air India pilot. Vijay is left heartbroken, shocked, and disappointed by this turn of events. The situation foreshadows the alliances that drive the rest of the story.

Shivani marries Ashok Chopra and, soon after, the couple is posted overseas and moves to America. Vijay’s heartbreak deepens as he watches the life he wanted slip away. The move marks a new chapter away from Shivani’s presence in his life.

Four years pass and Shivani and Ashok have a daughter named Pinky. Shivani leaves her air hostess job and begins volunteering at a hospital for the mentally and physically disabled. She finds purpose in helping others and building a family.

Vijay befriends Ashok under the pretense of friendship, aiming to get closer to Shivani. He plans to start his own airline and hires Ashok as general manager with a high salary, hoping to leverage their professional ties to win Shivani over.

Vijay and Ashok settle Shivani and Ashok into a new company home. Shivani reveals she is pregnant, but Vijay uses her photos in the airline's advertising. She demands that Vijay leave and that Ashok quit his job and the house, offering to support the family herself; Ashok slaps her and disowns her in anger.

Insulted and enraged, Ashok disowns Shivani and leaves the home. Vijay then viciously beats Ashok, and in the hospital he removes the oxygen mask, effectively killing him. He bribes Inspector Arjun to provide an alibi, ensuring that he is not charged for the murder.

Vijay continues to pursue Shivani, begging her to confess love, but she refuses. He frames her for Ashok’s murder, and Shivani is sentenced to prison. The injustice drives her toward a new resolve as she fights to prove her innocence from within.

In prison, Shivani befriends Nisha, a cellmate who was wrongly accused of murder in a dowry case. They endure a brutal warden who forces inmates into prostitution at night for political leaders. Shivani’s attempts to report the brutality are ignored, while Inspector Arjun hints at the corrupt system.

Mohanlal, Shivani’s brother-in-law, pressures Padmisha to disown Pinky, but she refuses. In retaliation, Mohanlal ejects Padmisha and Pinky from the house, severing ties with Shivani’s family.

Vijay accidentally runs his car over Shivani’s sister and her daughter Pinky, killing them both. Shivani learns of the deaths and realizes Vijay is responsible. This tragedy hardens her resolve for vengeance.

During a prison visit by a politician, Shivani vomits and later suffers a beating that triggers a miscarriage. The loss leaves her numb to life, cementing her determination to punish those who harmed her and her family.

Shivani stages a night-time escape by killing the prison warden with a deadly setup. After three years, she is released, and she begins a relentless campaign of revenge, including killing Mohanlal. Inspector Arjun pursues her, and in a climactic barn confrontation he dies when she sets the barn ablaze.

Shivani discovers Vijay living at a sanatorium built by Padma and finds him paralyzed. She nurses him back to health only to realize her purpose remains unchanged. She stabs him, and in their struggle, they fall from a cliff to their deaths, ending their saga of vengeance and obsession.
