In a whimsical blend of fantasy and reality, young June Bailey, whose imagination knows no bounds, collaborates with her mother to create the enchanting concept of Wonderland—a mystical amusement park populated by anthropomorphic animals that bring its colorful realm to life. Among this delightful ensemble are Boomer, a gentle giant of a bear offering a warm welcome, Greta, a spirited wild boar with an adventurous spirit, and Gus and Cooper, beaver brothers whose love for engineering binds them. They are joined by Steve, a charming yet cranky porcupine whose priority is visitor safety, and Peanut, a witty chimpanzee uniquely connected to June’s mother’s calming voice, which breathes life into the park’s rides. However, when tragedy strikes and June’s mother begins to fall ill, her absence drives June into the harsh truths of life, leading her to abandon Wonderland and, in a moment of despair, destroy the park’s cherished blueprints.

After June’s father sends her to math camp, she misinterprets it as a cry for help. Determined to return home and assist her father, she devises a bold plan with her friend Banky to stage a distraction on the bus, allowing her to escape. However, her adventure takes an unexpected turn as she discovers an abandoned Wonderland hidden in the woods, overwhelmed by a sinister presence known as the Darkness. Undeterred, June rallies her animal friends to fix the Clockwork Swings, the park’s fascinating attraction, but their mission is thwarted by the Chimpanzombies—once beloved plush toys now twisted by the malignancy of the Darkness.

In the chaos that ensues, June finds herself separated from her companions and lost in the mysterious Zero-G Land. There, she encounters Peanut, who has retreated in despair, his vibrant energy dimmed by the silence following the severance from June’s mother’s reassuring voice. In this bittersweet moment, June realizes that the Darkness symbolizes her own cynicism, an emotional shadow cast by her mother’s illness and her feelings of inadequacy.

As she escapes Zero-G Land, June faces off against the Chimpanzombies, who capture Peanut, leaving her feeling desolate. Yet, undaunted by the animals’ initial rejection, June perseveres to revive one of Wonderland’s rides, enlightened by her experiences to create a beacon that ultimately leads her back to the park. Armed with a piece of the blueprints, she has an epiphany: she is the very source of the park’s creativity. This revelation empowers her to rescue Peanut, urging the animals to reconvene and unite in their battle against the Darkness that threatens to consume Wonderland.

When the Chimpanzombies try to pull Peanut into the abyss of despair, the animals spring into action. June seizes her chance, bravely leaping into the void with unwavering determination, vowing to be Peanut’s guiding voice, nurturing his imagination amidst the encroaching darkness. In a moment of inspiration, she devises a plan to construct a makeshift slide from pliable straws, with Peanut joining her in bringing it to life. As they zip down the wobbly chute to escape their foes, June makes a remarkable discovery: her name, inscribed in flowing cursive, is mysteriously linked to the blueprint piece for the Clockwork Swings. With Peanut’s assistance, she reawakens the whimsical mechanism, channeling its power to dispel the shadows that had enveloped Wonderland. As the darkness retreats, June is reminded of the vital importance of preserving her imaginative spirit.

With her mother now fully recovered by her side, June returns home and begins constructing Wonderland in their own backyard. As she shares this wondrous story with other children, her eyes gleam with magic and possibility, illuminating the extraordinary adventures just beyond the threshold of reality.
