Edge of Tomorrow

A formidable alien race known as the Mimics overwhelms continental Europe, posing a significant threat to mankind's survival. The urgency of the situation compels global leaders to formulate a strategic response to reclaim their lost territories.

General Brigham, the leader of the United Defense Force, issues an order for Major William Cage to document the upcoming assault against the Mimics. Cage, unwilling to accept the risks involved, stands against the mission, advocating instead for a PR campaign to sway public opinion.

After expressing opposition to the mission, Cage is arrested and wakes up handcuffed at a forward operating base at Heathrow. He learns he has been labeled a deserter and is demoted to private, assigned to fight alongside Master Sergeant Farell.

The assault on the Mimics at the beaches of France results in a disastrous defeat for the human forces. Cage manages to kill a significant Mimic but is subsequently killed by its corrosive blood, leading to his perplexing resurrection the next day.

Cage wakes up repeatedly after dying in battle, leading to confusion among his peers as he begins to predict the unfolding events. These repeated deaths reveal to him his unique ability to reset time every time he is killed.

Cage encounters Sergeant Rita Vrataski, who recognizes his unique talent and advises him to look for her after each awakening. She shares her own experiences, revealing that she once had the same power to reset time but lost it due to a transfusion.

Through discussions with Vrataski and Dr. Carter, Cage learns that the Alpha Mimic he killed granted him the ability to reset time. They devise a plan to find the Omega, the Mimics' command entity, which controls their hive mind.

Vrataski trains Cage intensively, honing his combat skills as they repeatedly attempt to locate the Omega's hideout. Their investigation leads them to learn about a significant Mimic plot targeting London during the invasion.

Cage and Vrataski's loops bring them closer, but after a devastating loss, Cage resolves to confront the Omega alone. He finds the Omega's hideout empty and makes a desperate choice to reset the cycle by taking his own life.

Cage and Vrataski plan a bold mission to retrieve a device from the Ministry of Defence that can pinpoint the Omega's location. Despite numerous challenges, they successfully obtain the transponder and trace the Omega to the Louvre Pyramid in Paris.

As they attempt to evade capture with the new device, Cage and Vrataski are injured during their escape. Cage undergoes a significant change when a blood transfusion renders him incapable of resetting time.

Determined to finish the fight, Cage rallies his squad for a mission to destroy the Omega located under the Louvre. They strategize to avoid killing Alphas, which would reset the day for the Omega, ensuring their attack remains a surprise.

In the chaotic battle at the Louvre, Cage and Vrataski’s squad sacrifices themselves to ensure their mission's success. Despite the losses, Cage manages to plant a grenade in the Omega’s core, leading to a devastating explosion.

Cage, having absorbed the Omega's blood, experiences a final awakening before meeting General Brigham. He learns that mimic activity has ceased, putting him in a position to avoid arrest.

Returning to Heathrow, Cage finds that his squadmates no longer recognize him, welcoming him back with honor due to his newfound status as a Major. His poignant last encounter with Vrataski ends with her not acknowledging him, highlighting the strange twist of fate.
