A Nightmare on Elm Street

While having a meal with his girlfriend Kris, Dean Russell falls asleep and enters a terrifying dream. In this dream, he is confronted by a burned man in a red and green sweater, who lethally attacks him by cutting his throat.

As Dean appears to slash his own throat in reality, nearby friend and waitress Nancy watches in horror. This horrifying event leads to Dean's tragic death during the incident.

At Dean's funeral, Kris is haunted by a childhood photograph showing her with Dean. Disturbed by the lack of memories before high school, Kris becomes increasingly anxious.

Kris begins to have nightmares about the burned man, fearing for her life. Despite her efforts to stay awake, she eventually succumbs to sleep and encounters the man in her dreams.

Jesse Braun, Kris's ex-boyfriend, comes to stay with her to help keep her company during the night. However, he too finds himself scared and confused as he becomes embroiled in the nightmare.

In a tragic turn of events, Kris is murdered by the burned man in her dream. Covered in blood and shaken, Jesse rushes to Nancy for help, terrified and desperate.

Jesse is arrested on suspicion of Kris's murder after being found in a state of shock. As he falls asleep in his jail cell, he becomes the next victim of Freddy Krueger, being killed in a horrific fashion.

Haunted by her friends' mysterious deaths, Nancy questions the shared past of her group. As they dig deeper, Nancy and her friend Quentin discover they all attended the same preschool.

After confronting Nancy's mother, Gwen, the truth comes to light about Fred Krueger, the gardener who abused the children at the preschool. Nancy feels the urgency to find out what other horrors might have taken place.

Determined to confront the past, Nancy sets out to find the remaining children from the preschool. The urgency heightens upon realizing that most of them have met tragic ends.

During swim practice, Quentin falls asleep and witnesses the horrifying memory of the parents hunting down and burning Fred Krueger alive. This revelation compels him to take action.

Nancy and Quentin go to the preschool where they once attended. Nancy falls asleep and is attacked, but Quentin manages to wake her just in time, bringing back a piece of Freddy's sweater into reality.

With knowledge of their childhood trauma, Nancy decides to confront Freddy Krueger in the dream world. In a desperate attempt to defeat him, they attempt to pull him into reality.

During a climactic battle in the dream world, Nancy manages to sever Freddy's hand and slit his throat. Realizing that their fight is not over, she takes drastic action to try to end his reign of terror.

After burning down Freddy's secret hideout, Nancy returns home, briefly feeling safe. However, the story ends with a chilling twist as Krueger reappears to murder her mother.
