A man named Steve breaks into a mine where he discovers the Orb of Dominance and the Earth Crystal. These powerful artifacts enable him to enter the overworld, where he dreams of creating a paradise for himself.

While enjoying his creation, Steve stumbles across a mysterious portal that transports him to the Nether. There, he is captured by Malgosha, the Piglin leader who seeks vengeance against the overworld.

Malgosha has a grudge against the overworld due to humiliation she faced during a talent show. She plans to destroy the overworld, which adds urgency to Steve's quest to keep the Orb safe.

In the present day, Garrett, known as 'the garbage man', wins a contest and opens his own game store. His efforts hit a snag when he receives an eviction notice, prompting him to scour for valuable items.

During his search, Garrett comes across the Orb of Dominance and the Earth Crystal, unknowingly reigniting the adventure that Steve once embarked upon. This discovery leads to a series of unexpected events.

Henry, who recently moved to Idaho with his sister Natalie after losing their parents, faces trouble at school. His jetpack malfunctions and causes chaos, prompting him to lie about Garrett being his uncle.

By combining the Orb and the Earth Crystal, Henry accidentally reactivates the portal, transporting him and Garrett back to the mines. This unexpected journey raises concern for Natalie, who fears for her brother's safety.

The group, joined by Natalie and Dawn, arrives in the overworld where they face immediate threats. Malgosha learns about their presence and devises a plan to retrieve the artifacts that Steve once held.

As night falls, the four friends battle hordes of monsters. Henry learns to build and create a fortress that provides some shelter, but their adventure is far from over as they encounter various challenges.

During a piglin attack, Garrett accidentally breaks the orb, causing panic among the group. Just as things seem dire, Steve arrives to help them escape the realm of danger and leads them to safety.

Steve shows Henry and Garrett how to craft useful items in order to survive. As they regroup in a nearby village, they plan their next move to retrieve a new orb while fending off piglin attacks.

Malgosha sends out the Great Hog as a weapon against the boys. In a tense chase, they narrowly escape in mine carts while the Great Hog is ultimately defeated by a group of creepers.

Upon reaching the mansion, the friends devise a ruse involving a birthday party to distract the pillagers. Henry successfully retrieves the Earth Crystal and ender pearl amidst the chaos.

Garrett makes a selfless sacrifice during a confrontation, but miraculously survives the explosion. Meanwhile, Piglin possesses immense power with the Orb of Dominance, declaring war on the overworld.

After a dramatic showdown, the friends return to Earth successful. Steve rekindles his old life by meeting the new owner of his childhood home, marking a new chapter for everyone involved.
