In May 1983 a 49‑year‑old returns to his childhood village in Baden with his 17‑year‑old son, intent on uncovering the fate of his mother’s wartime affair with a young Polish POW. As his son photographs their journey, the man interviews surviving witnesses. Flashbacks reveal the lovers Paulina and Stanislaus, a jealous neighbour, and SS commander Mayer confronting the consequences of the arrests.
