28 Years Later

In the Scottish Highlands, a young boy named Jimmy is watching television with his sisters when their mother arrives in panic. She tries to secure them inside, but Infected individuals break in, leading to a chaotic attack.

In the turmoil, Jimmy's father, a priest, prepares for the Infected to come for him. He hands Jimmy a crucifix necklace for protection before facing the onslaught, ultimately being infected as he sacrifices himself.

The text reveals that the Rage Virus has devastated the UK, forcing the area to be quarantined. Survivors now find themselves pitted against a desolate landscape where they must fend for themselves.

After 28 years, a community of survivors has established a village in Lindisfarne. The villagers, including Jamie and his son Spike, prepare for a ritual that involves killing their first Infected as a rite of passage.

Jamie and Spike set out on their first hunt into the forest to kill Infected. They successfully take down several obese Infected creatures, marking Spike's initiation into their survival community.

While hunting, Jamie and Spike encounter a pack of Infected led by a more intelligent Alpha. After a harrowing chase, they manage to kill many of the creatures and find refuge in a nearby house until nightfall.

Upon returning to the village, a celebration is held in honor of Spike for his first kill. However, the festivities are tinged with betrayal when Spike witnesses his father Jamie having an affair.

The following morning, tension brews between Spike and Jamie over the affair and Jamie's apparent lack of interest in helping Spike's sick mother, Isla. Their argument escalates, resulting in Jamie slapping Spike, which leads to a drastic rift in their relationship.

Determined to seek help for Isla, Spike decides to leave Lindisfarne with her. Despite her unclear mental state, they venture towards the mainland to find Dr. Kelson, a figure rumored to have medical expertise.

On the mainland, a troop of NATO soldiers faces a deadly attack from Infected beings. Most soldiers succumb to the assault, while only a few manage to survive the harrowing encounter.

While hiding in a gas station, Spike and Isla are nearly caught by Infected. A soldier named Erik ignites the gas, creating an explosion that wipes out the Infected, allowing Spike and Isla to escape.

Spike and Isla encounter a pregnant Infected woman in a bus, whose plight leads to tragic events when Erik tries to shoot her. The situation escalates, culminating in the return of the Alpha, who kills Erik.

Dr. Kelson saves Spike and Isla from the Alpha, tranquilizing it and revealing himself to be a scientist with a peculiar interest in the infected. He shows them his 'Bone Temple', a shrine made of skulls, and conducts a grim diagnosis on Isla.

Kelson mercifully ends Isla's suffering as she has terminal cancer, further devastating Spike. After climbing to the top of the skull tower, Spike lays his mother’s skull there as a form of goodbye.

After battling the Alpha one last time, Spike returns to Lindisfarne with a baby girl he named Isla, who is immune to the Rage Virus. He conveys a message to his father and is met with a sense of hope for the future.

Spike, now alone and surviving in the wilderness, encounters a mysterious blonde man named Jimmy, who introduces himself as a survivor from the initial outbreak. Together, they form a bond amidst the chaos of their world.
