Kingsley, a young Black boy living in London, navigates life with his mother and sister, Amelia, while his father is absent. He spends part of his time reciting poetry and selling drugs with a friend, reflecting the challenges faced by youth in his neighborhood.

Kingsley encounters a drug dealer who is recruiting young boys, including some white youths, for initiation into the drug trade. This event foreshadows a tragic outcome that affects Kingsley and his circle.

Max, a once-prominent sports celebrity, finds himself in a deep depression despite running a foundation supporting young rugby players. He is separated from his wife, Emily, and yearns for a reconnection while dealing with his celebrity life.

George, a cab driver who coaches children, hopes to adopt with his partner Kathy but is haunted by his secretive past from thirty years ago. Their dreams of parenthood are complicated by George's unresolved issues.

Kingsley and a friend attempt to gain access to a VIP room at a club which leads to their arrest. As a consequence of their actions, Kingsley is sentenced to community service at a cemetery, marking a turning point in his life.

At the cemetery, Kingsley meets Terence, an older man who shares a love for poetry and music. Despite Kingsley's initial reluctance, the two develop a meaningful friendship, illustrating the power of connection across generations.

After Kingsley's mother discovers a gun in his room, she decides to kick him out, pushing Kingsley to reevaluate his life choices. This marks a significant moment in his journey as he struggles to find his identity.

Max tries to rekindle his relationship with Emily but ends up making a mistake that leads to a drunken altercation. His celebrity status somewhat shields him from serious consequences, highlighting the disparity of consequences for his actions.

In a moment of distraction, George accidentally hits a woman with his taxi, resulting in her tragic death. This incident not only haunts George but also strains his relationship with Kathy, who is unaware of his predicament.

Kingsley witnesses a group of boys working for his boss attack Terence and steal his headphones as part of their initiation. The violence against Terence serves as a stark reminder of the dire state of Kingsley's environment.

After being beaten, Terence dismisses his injuries but ultimately dies as a result of the attack. Kingsley, devastated by the loss of his friend, finds himself caught in a cycle of violence and regret.

In a moment of turmoil, Max discovers a scrapbook at Emily's home and finds a gun, leading him to a standoff with police. Amid the chaos, Emily attempts to intervene and calm him down, but the situation spirals out of control.

As tensions peak, a gun is fired amidst both Kingsley's and Max's crises. The screen goes black, leaving the audience uncertain about the fate of both characters and highlighting the unpredictable nature of their lives.

Following the accident, George is persuaded by Kathy to reclaim a sense of normalcy. He meets the brother of the woman he killed, who surprisingly expresses understanding, allowing George to find some closure in the tragedy.
