What Happens in Yuvaraju: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Yuvaraju (2000) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Srinivas, Mahesh Babu, has just returned to India and joins a college in Hyderabad. There, he meets his classmate Srivalli, Simran, a young, beautiful girl with whom he falls deeply in love. Srivalli keeps a childhood friend, Vamsi, who is abroad, close to her heart, especially since a plane crash twenty years ago left them as the two sole survivors. The romance blossoms, and the two decide to move forward with a lavish engagement ceremony.

For the calm observers, trouble arrives in the form of Srilata, Sakshi Shivananda, who arrives just in time to attend the engagement. Srivalli quickly learns that Srinivas and Srilata know each other from their past abroad, based on a fleeting observation during the engagement. Srilata has a son named Teja, Teja Sajja, whom Srinivas ends up befriending.

As the story unfolds, he discovers that his own father is not living with Srilata and Teja. During an outing, Teja reproduces a tune his mother taught him—an emotional moment that leads Srinivas to the painful truth: Teja is his son. He confronts Srilata, who reveals that years earlier they were given a drink by tribal people and lost their memories of what happened. She remembers only three months later and could not locate him.

Torn between truth and duty, Srinivas wants to tell Srivalli everything, but Srilata asks him to promise, swearing on his son Teja’s photo that he will stay silent. Teja, who has already formed a bond with Srinivas, eventually learns the truth himself. The bond between father and son grows as Srinivas contemplates his future and his role as Teja’s father, even as Vamsi pursues Srivalli and attends the wedding to win her.

On the day of the marriage, Srilata cannot bear the sight of the ceremony and attempts to leave. Teja longs to see his father one last time before the departure. Srivalli finally uncovers the truth in a letter written by Teja. In a dramatic turn, Srinivas rushes to the airport to stop them, only to learn that Srilata has taken poison. Srivalli arrives at the hospital, and the trio faces danger from rowdies. In the end, Srinivas, Srilata, and their young son set off on a new journey together.

Q1

Why did Srilata keep Teja hidden from Srinivas for so long?

Srilata explains that years earlier, while they were abroad, tribal people gave them a drink that caused both of them to lose their memories. She only regained her memories three months later and could not locate Srinivas after that. This memory loss explains why she never reached out to him and why she raised Teja alone all those years.
