Jaya notices Dushyant cannot afford an instrument and pleads with her sister to nudge their father to help. Her father, Shekhar, is moved and agrees to lend the money, cementing a supportive family dynamic. This act sets in motion Dushyant's bond with Jaya.

A chilling phone call announces a family illness. Jaya's mother rushes to Delhi to help, but the mother dies when the plane explodes during takeoff. The family is plunged into grief.

Ten years have passed and we are at BA Nayyar College in 2004. Professor Pyarelal begins his first day as a history teacher and learns about a Sunday picnic; a casual exchange with Chand Nath hints at Raj, a character who will later become central to the plot.

The grown-up Jaya and Dushyant attend a college party with friends, where a raunchy Antakshari is started by Deven Bhojani's character. Sujit and Nisha are introduced into the circle, setting up the later complications. The mood hints at romantic tension and emerging rivalries.

The next day, Jaya calls Sheetal while Raj brings Dushyant's latest album and TV chatter about the musician's busy life. Jaya feels neglected as Dushyant's fame grows, and the tension strains their relationship. They eventually break up.

After a night of drinking, Dushyant finds Sujit among the homeless and resolves to look after him. Sujit leads him to Nisha's new home where her father Kamlesh is celebrating a birthday. Nisha is relieved that Jaya and Dushyant are no longer together.

Dushyant proposes to Nisha, but the alliance is used to wedge Jaya and Dushyant apart. Kamlesh brings a business proposal for Dushyant, which Rajpal dismisses. Jaya arrives to collect money Dushyant owes for inspiring songs; Dushyant returns the money, leaving her heartbroken. Sujit then takes the money from Jaya, and Kamlesh phones goons to eliminate Jaya.

Jaya's death is treated as murder, with police testimony suggesting she entered Dushyant's place but left unhappy. The case is handed to Inspector Rahul, who plans to travel abroad seeking clues about the Jaya–Dushyant affair and manipulates Sheetal. His movement marks the investigation's reach beyond the city.

Rahul spends time abroad and enlists Balbir and an eccentric aide, while trying to get closer to Sheetal. Rajpal is frustrated by this approach. Sheetal and Rajpal participate in their Annual Day function, expanding the subplot of mistaken identity and romantic tension.

Sujit delivers a menacing monologue about killing Rajpal, Kamlesh, and Nisha in his pursuit of wealth, briefly breaking the fourth wall. The speech foreshadows the violence to come and underscores the film's themes of revenge and ambition.

Nisha is strangled in her car as Dushyant heads to a concert abroad. Rahul and Balbir plan to meet him, but he is unavailable, so they press Rajpal to include them in Dushyant's next college performance. Tensions escalate as the killers close in.

Learning the truth about the wedge between Jaya and himself, Dushyant asks Sujit to meet at their old gathering place. A drunk Sujit shouts a line, and a car resembling Dushyant's runs him down, ending his trail of threats.

Rahul and Sheetal hurry to the college for a performance and discover Kamlesh murdered. Shekhar is alerted to Jaya's death and is arrested, confessing and hinting that Dushyant is the killer behind the tragedy.

Sheetal returns home to find murder paraphernalia—masks, gloves, and rope—that point to a broader conspiracy. She asks Shekhar for answers, but he remains silent until the police arrest him and his confession implicates the doomed truth about his daughter's killer.

In the final moments, Dushyant reunites with his mentor Rajpal, who asserts that Jaya and Dushyant's love was real. Dushyant thanks Rajpal for 'Everything' as the film closes on a tragic and unresolved note about passion, jealousy, and revenge.
