Naresh was born a month early due to a mistake by Lord Brahma. This premature birth caused him to be born without the Thalaratha, which is essentially the cosmic script that governs birth, life, and death for humans. Without it, Naresh became immortal and exempt from death and disease, making him an unusual being who could observe life from a mythical vantage point.

The film establishes early on that Naresh has an unusual detachment from mortal limits, hinting at his destined encounter with Yama.

When Yama personally traveled to Earth to retrieve his daughter Yamaja, Naresh pursued them. During the chase, Naresh grabbed the tail of Yama's Bull but lost his grip and fell into Trishanku's Heaven. With Narada's disguised blessing, he continued his journey to Yamalokam, the realm of the dead, where the story's main events unfold.

This escape sets up Naresh's ability to travel between realms, establishing his unique position as someone who can challenge divine authority.

Yama cannot kill Naresh because Naresh lacks the Thalaratha - the divine script that Brahma creates for every human being that determines their lifespan and death. Since Naresh was born without this script due to Brahma's mistake, he exists outside the normal cosmic order of life and death, making him immune to Yama's conventional methods of ending life.

This becomes a central plot point as Naresh uses his unique status to challenge Yama directly.

Naresh pleaded with Yama to end his life after three days because he realized that as long as he possessed the Thalaratha (which was in play despite his birth circumstances), his family would remain in danger from Yama's wrath. By agreeing to surrender his powers and accept death, Naresh hoped to protect his family from divine retribution while also freeing Yamaja from her bond to him.

This sacrifice reflects Naresh's earlier vision of his family's deaths, showing his desperate attempt to alter fate.

After returning to Yamalokam following his three-day pledge, Naresh gained prophetic visions showing his father's death in a bus collision and his brother's murder by Royyala Naidu. These premonitions gave Naresh the ability to intervene on Earth before the tragedies occurred, though preventing them required significant effort and ultimately led to his own fatal stabbing.

This ability stems from his unique status in Yamalokam, where he exists as both mortal and celestial being.

When Royyala Naidu came to kill Naresh's brother, Naresh recalled seeing a vision of his brother wearing a specific shirt before the attack. He quickly swapped shirts with his brother, taking the fatal blow himself. This act allowed Naresh to die in his brother's place while simultaneously killing Royyala Naidu, fulfilling his premonition while achieving justice against the don.

The shirt detail was planted earlier through Naresh's visions, making this moment both a surprise and an inevitable payoff.

After being stabbed by Royyala Naidu and returning to Yamalokam as a spirit, Naresh managed to fatally wound Royyala Naidu before Yama could claim his soul. When Yamaja, Yamaganda, and Ayyo (Yama's wife) pleaded for mercy, Yama was moved to restore Naresh's body, bringing him back to life and allowing him to finally marry Yamaja.

The emotional appeals from those who supported Naresh throughout his journey demonstrate how his genuine love and sacrifice changed even the god of death's mind.

During a Swayamvaram drama performance, Narada Maharshi brought Yama's daughter Yamaja to participate. In the stage play, she married Naresh's character, and this pretend wedding gradually developed into real feelings. Yamaja was drawn to Naresh's unique qualities, and he reciprocated her affection as their staged romance transitioned into genuine love.

This theatrical beginning foreshadows the film's blend of drama and reality, where performances hold real consequences.

After learning that Yamaja was captured inside Yama's Gada (fortress), Naresh disguised himself as a woman to infiltrate the heavily guarded compound. This daring plan allowed him to reach Yamaja and reconcile with her, demonstrating his willingness to defy divine authority through cleverness rather than pure force.

This act of disguise echoes the theatrical themes of the film and shows Naresh's resourcefulness in overcoming divine obstacles.

Ayyo is Yama's wife, who becomes an unexpected ally for Naresh in Yamalokam. After hearing Naresh's full story and understanding his genuine love for Yamaja, Ayyo sympathized with his cause and supported him against Yama's opposition. Her backing proved crucial in later events, including pleading for Naresh's revival after his death.

Ayyo's support represents the idea that even divine authority figures can be moved by genuine love and sacrifice.

Royyala Naidu was a powerful don who had imprisoned Naresh's brother on false charges, accumulating a substantial debt that threatened the family. When Naresh tried to settle this debt by earning money through a stage play, Royyala Naidu responded violently, leading to the confrontation where Naresh was ultimately stabbed while protecting his brother.

This Earth-based conflict runs parallel to the celestial story, showing how Naresh's unusual nature affects both divine and mortal realms.
