Yadang: The Snitch

At the film’s climax, Kang-su devises a clever plan to expose the corruption within the criminal justice system. He secretly records evidence of Prosecutor Ku and Gwan-hee’s illicit activities using a hidden camera, then enlists Kang-su and Sang-jae to ambush their enemies. As they execute their plan, they succeed in capturing and destroying Yeom Tae-su’s drug network and gathering irrefutable evidence of Ku and Gwan-hee’s involvement in corruption. Kang-su then leaks this damning footage online, revealing the extent of the officials’ greed and betrayal to the public. This turns the tide as the truth surface, leading to the arrest of Prosecutor Ku and the suicide of corrupt businessman Cho Hoon, who cannot face the shame. Meanwhile, Gwan-hee’s scheme to manipulate the election is thwarted when the drug test results—falsified by Ku—are exposed, shattering his reputation. The police and media rally behind the truth, and justice is served in a dramatic culmination of the film. Even in defeat, Ku hallucinates cockroaches, symbolizing his addiction to power and greed finally consuming him. The movie ends with Kang-su adopting his old life but with a twist — he secretly records various deals and betrayals, implying he’s still operating as a snitch, but now with a higher purpose. This ending emphasizes that in a corrupt world, truth and corruption are intertwined, and sometimes justice comes from unconventional sources.
