The film opens with a short pre-credits sequence that introduces the members of the Hole in the Wall gang. A member indoors starts a fire while the door remains open, establishing the gang’s stealthy, ominous presence. The moment smoothly segues into the opening credits, signaling the story’s crime tone.

Brady Sutton returns to Broken Bow intent on going straight and starting a blacksmith business for his sweetheart Nancy. He quickly spots a gang member casing the local bank, signaling trouble ahead. He warns the sheriff, initiating the town’s clash with the Hole in the Wall gang.

The sheriff, acting on Brady’s warning, arranges for the bank to relocate all its cash to the jailhouse to deter a robbery. The plan is meant to guard the money, but one gang member still notices the setup. The tension mounts as the clock ticks toward night.

That night, Butch Cassidy and the gang raid the jail, but the assault ends with two gang members dead and the operation derailed. Brady is implicated in the attempted robbery and escapes town with the aid of Charlie Veer.

Brady escapes from town with Charlie Veer’s help, and Veer tries to recruit him into Cassidy’s gang. He persuades Brady to come along to Cassidy's hideout, known as The Hole in the Wall. The plan marks the start of Brady’s deeper entanglement with the outlaw group.

Veer informs Brady that the bank plans to move the money by train the next night, and Cassidy intends to rob the train. The revelation cements the gang’s next big score and sets the stage for a bold, plotted heist. Brady begins to weigh his options about future crime.

Veer goes to the telegraph office to warn the sheriff about the planned train robbery, but Cassidy has already reached the telegraph operator, coercing a bogus message and killing the operator. The message manipulation undermines any timely law enforcement response.

Brady contemplates backing away from crime as the heist approaches, worried about his future. Veer admits he is a Pinkerton agent and still believes a posse will pursue the train. The revelation casts doubt on the gang's plans and Brady’s loyalty.

The train robbery goes ahead, but there is neither a posse nor money on the train, highlighting the plan’s failure. Cassidy shoots Veer and takes Nancy hostage, forcing Brady into action. The already fragile alliance collapses as violence erupts on the rails.

Brady makes a desperate bid to escape with Nancy, but they are recaptured by Cassidy’s gang before they can reach safety. The couple is pulled back into the outlaw circle and forced to face the escalating danger. The tension tightens as the showdown looms.

Believing the bank money remains in Broken Bow, Cassidy manipulates Nancy to send the sheriff off on a false trail to misdirect pursuit. Nancy agrees under pressure, hoping to protect Brady but risking the town’s safety. The ruse buys Cassidy time for a final raid.

Cassidy and the gang ride into Broken Bow, but Nancy organizes the townsfolk’s women to stand up to them. The raid fails as most of the gang is killed and Cassidy is captured. In the aftermath, Brady and Nancy are finally reunited, closing the loop on their relationship.
