While gathering acorns, Chip and Dale stumble upon a peanut that had been tossed from the nearby zoo. They sample the peanut and savor its taste, curious about how such a snack arrived here. Their discovery coincides with a crowd nearby throwing peanuts at Dolores the Elephant, who is being cared for by Donald Duck.

Dolores catches Dale stealing peanuts

Dale attempts to steal more peanuts while Donald is away, but Dolores spots him. She traps him with a crafty ploy and uses her trunk as a branch to guide the prize toward her mouth. In the process, she also drains Chip's peanut load from the tree.

Angered by the theft, the chipmunks retaliate by yanking a branch on their tree and giving Dolores a sharp jab in the rear. Dolores complains to Donald, escalating the confrontation and drawing him back toward the scene.

Donald uses trunk as vacuum and blasts peanuts

Realizing the theft, Donald uses Dolores' trunk like a vacuum to suck up the stolen peanuts. He then blasts the remaining peanuts at the chipmunks as fast as a machine gun, but soon runs out of ammo. The relentless onslaught leaves the chipmunks scrambling to dodge the peanut spray.

Unable to outrun the chaos, the chipmunks retreat into a mouse hole, and Donald charges after them, colliding with a wall and being left dazed on the ground.

The chipmunks watch as other animals receive peanuts, growing more determined to steal more themselves. Dale tries to imitate a sea lion to attract attention, but a fish is thrown at him and Chip mocks the effort. In a final burst of frustration, Dale slaps Chip with the fish.

Dolores alerts Donald, and Dale draws two lines across his body to imitate suspenders. Donald, convinced by the ruse, leads Dolores away to admire the display.
