The power balance starts to tilt when Myeong-ja intervenes to stop Hye-suk from pursuing Dong-sik, a moment that triggers a devastating turn: he, in a drunken state, rapes her after mistaking her for Hye-suk. This brutal act results in a pregnancy, an outcome that Jeong-suk discovers and subsequently forces Myeong-ja to have an abortion.
