Who Killed Teddy Bear?

Norah begins receiving obscene phone calls on a daily basis. She also discovers a decapitated teddy bear in her Manhattan apartment, signaling that someone is watching her. The unsettling signs set the stage for a creeping danger.

Lt. Dave Madden, a detective haunted by his own wife's murder, becomes involved with Norah's case and shows a personal concern beyond official duty. He starts following the case closely and takes a special interest in her safety.

Madden hints that he could be the caller, secretly records his discussions with Norah, and studies perverted behavior to understand the case. His hidden obsession and methods ruffle his colleagues and create a tense dynamic.

It is revealed that the obscene calls come from Lawrence Sherman, a waiter at Norah's nightclub. He lives with his brain-damaged sister Edie, who depends on him for care.

Lawrence carries guilt from an accident in which Edie witnessed him with another woman. Her brain damage and his obligation to care for Edie haunt his relationships and fuel his fixation.

Norah encounters Lawrence at the gym and treats him with friendliness. She compliments his body and offers to stay late after work to teach him to dance.

Marian Freeman, the nightclub's seasoned manager, offers to stay overnight with Norah to keep her safe and provides support. She visits Norah's apartment to reassure her.
