Wheels of Terror

On a remote desert highway in Arizona, a man and his daughter are stranded when a dark, dirt-covered black 1974 Dodge Charger pulls up. The unseen driver strikes the man, killing him, then backs up and abducts the screaming girl. The scene establishes the threat posed by the Charger and its mysterious driver.

Soon after the abduction, the girl is found walking along the highway, visibly assaulted and traumatized. Highway patrol officers take her into their custody and transport her to the hospital for treatment and questioning. The incident underscores the immediate danger posed by the Charger and its driver.

In Copper Valley, Laura begins a new life as a bus driver, having moved from Los Angeles in hopes of a safer upbringing for her daughter. The town's quiet routine becomes the backdrop for the terror that will unfold as the Charger watches local families.

The Charger makes its first appearance in Copper Valley as Laura drives kids home from school on a 1982 Chevrolet G30 Wayne Busette. The driver follows a young girl home and abducts her, continuing a pattern of stalking that will threaten Laura and her circle.

The abducted girl is sexually assaulted and later found alive, though clearly traumatized. The driver then abducts Stephanie's friend Kim, who is later found dead, floating in a nearby lake.

Laura visits the police station and speaks with Detective Drummond, who says that despite searches, nobody has claimed to see the car or its driver. The lack of witnesses expands the mystery and heightens the sense of threat surrounding the Charger.

The Charger reappears in front of Laura’s house, revving its engine and driving around as she tries to contact the detective. Its ominous return heightens Laura's fear and determination to protect her family.

The following day, Stephanie waits for her mother after gymnastics practice, but a freight train delays Laura. In front of her family and the bus full of kids, the Charger abducts Stephanie, deepening Laura’s resolve to stop it.

Laura resumes the pursuit through town and dirt roads, but a motorcycle cop pulls her over. While he is talking to her, the Charger reappears and rams the bike, killing the officer as Stephanie calls for help from the car’s window. The chase escalates with the kids on the bus pleading for Laura to slow down.

The bus nearly drives off the edge of a cliff near a train bridge, and Laura manages to restart the bus and back away from the precipice. The chase resumes with higher stakes as the Charger closes in.

The chase leads to a construction site where Laura lets the kids off and asks them to call the police from a nearby trailer. The driver circles, threatening to cut off Laura’s route.

The Charger reappears and attempts to ram Laura as she steps from the bus, but she climbs aboard and keeps the pursuit alive. The two vehicles tear through the construction zone in a desperate bid to escape.

The pursuit moves into a quarry where Laura rams the Charger repeatedly, but cannot stop it. Stephanie manages to climb out of the Charger and onto the bus, reuniting with her mother during the tense pursuit.

Laura rams the Charger and sends it tumbling over a cliff. The car crashes into a nearby storage building filled with explosives, causing a massive explosion that incinerates the car and the driver.

In the final scene, Laura and Stephanie board the school bus and drive off toward the sunset, a quiet return to normalcy after the ordeal. They share a tearful moment of relief and determination to move forward together.
