Embarking on a dangerous mission, René flies to Miami using a stolen Antonov An-2. This perilous journey symbolizes his desperate escape from the oppressive regime in Cuba as he seeks freedom.

Upon arriving in Miami, René quickly becomes involved with the Cuban expatriate group known as Brothers to the Rescue. This organization is dedicated to opposing Castro's government, and René finds a sense of purpose in their mission.

Brothers to the Rescue engages in military efforts to disrupt the Cuban government while executing tactics to damage the Cuban tourism industry. They drop provocative flyers over Cuba, aiming to galvanize support against the regime.

Under the leadership of Manuel Viramontez, a secret network called la Red Avispa operates within Cuba. This group is intricately tied to the Cuban American National Foundation, orchestrating espionage and terrorist operations against the Cuban government.

In 1996, tensions reach a boiling point when two Cessna Skymasters from Brothers to the Rescue are shot down by Cuban MiGs over the Caribbean. This incident leads to the tragic deaths of four aviators, marking a dark chapter in the ongoing conflict.

Amidst the turmoil, Juan Pablo Roque swims to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base seeking asylum. After reaching Miami, he becomes an FBI informant, showcasing the volatile nature of loyalties within this turbulent environment.

After overcoming numerous challenges, Olga and Irma finally receive permission to leave Cuba and reunite with René in Miami. This emotional reunion is fraught with tension as they navigate their new life in an unfamiliar land.

Before leaving Cuba, Viramontez warns Olga that René is not a traitor but a hero and deep-cover intelligence agent. This revelation highlights the complex nature of their lives and the dangers surrounding their decisions.

In 1997, in El Salvador, Raúl Cruz León is recruited to plant explosives in Havana hotels. His mission leads to tragedy when an Italian tourist is killed, resulting in his arrest by Cuban authorities amid his organization's abandonment.

The FBI apprehends René González, Manuel Viramontez, and the Wasp Network, charging them with conspiracy to commit espionage and murder. This shocking turn of events throws their lives into chaos as they face grave legal consequences.

In an unexpected twist, Fidel Castro publicly expresses support for the actions of González and his associates. This endorsement complicates the narrative, revealing the political stakes at play in their actions.
