As Moscow burns, the Rostovs flee with wounded soldiers, unaware Andrei Bolkonsky is with them. Pierre, in peasant disguise, tries to kill Napoleon, is captured, and spends months with the Grande Armée before a raid frees him. Kutuzov defeats the French at Krasnoi. Andrei returns, forgives Natasha, and they marry as Moscow is rebuilt.
