Unfriended: Dark Web

Matias O'Brien discovers a stolen laptop in a cybercafé's lost and found. Using it, he connects with his hearing-impaired girlfriend, Amaya DeSoto, through a Facebook call, where they discuss his software project *Papaya*.

During the call with Amaya, her disappointment about Matias not learning sign language becomes evident. Their call is suddenly dropped, leaving Matias anxious and eager to reconnect with her.

Matias joins a webcam game night with his friends, including Damon, AJ, Lexx, Serena, and Nari. They play *Cards Against Humanity* while Matias swings between the game and trying to reach Amaya again.

Amid the game, Serena and Nari celebrate their engagement, which momentarily lifts the mood. However, they soon learn about the serious health condition of Serena's mother, casting a shadow over the celebration.

As technical issues plague Matias' laptop, his friend Damon urges him to scan for hidden files. This leads Matias to uncover a disturbing collection of hacked webcam and surveillance videos.

Amaya calls back, leading Matias to admit his wrongdoing about the laptop. However, when he interacts with someone posing as Erica Dunne, he learns more about the mysterious implications of his theft.

Matias receives a message from 'Charon 68', which leads him to an online domain known as 'The River.' He realizes the connection between Norah C. IV and Charon, decoding the hidden danger of his situation.

Panicking, Matias discovers snuff films depicting real kidnappings, highlighting a grave threat. His heart races as he watches a horrifying video of a woman being abducted, confirming the reality he faces.

Matias' connection with Amaya's roommate, Kelly, leads to a direct threat from Charon. He learns that Kelly's life is at risk unless he returns the laptop without alarming Amaya.

To maintain control, Matias fabricates a story about an immersive horror game to deceive his friends. He successfully persuades them while devising a plan to lure Amaya to his home as per Charon's orders.

Matias hatches a plan to siphon off Charon 4's Bitcoin fortune, aiming to negotiate the safe return of Erica. However, the situation escalates, and the stakes become dangerously high.

Trapped in a web of deception, Matias becomes aware of The Circle's true intentions. They play with their lives for entertainment, leading to despairing choices and the shattering of trust within the group.

In a gut-wrenching finale, Matias’ frantic pleas to Amaya are thwarted by The Circle, leaving him helpless and buried alive in despair. The dark web claims its victims, reducing them to pawns in a chilling horror game.
