During the Spanish Civil War in 1937, young Republican officer Lluís finds himself drawn to the mysterious widow Carlana. She manipulates him into falsifying a document that grants her significant power and land. Lluís's friend, the disgraced officer Soleràs, uncovers the deception and blackmails Lluís, demanding he protect his family from the ongoing bombings of Barcelona. The arrival of Trini further complicates matters, as she exposes the betrayal, leading to a tense and morally challenging conflict.
