What Happens in Twitches Too: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Twitches Too (2007) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

In the magical land of Coventry, Queen Miranda, Kristen Wilson, is in King Aron’s study, speaking to his portrait about how much she misses him. She exits the room followed by a shadow, waves her hand, and a wall conceals the opening. In the Earth dimension, Camryn Barnes, Tamera Mowry-Housley, makes a mess when she tries to magically put dishes into a dishwasher. Alex Fielding, Tia Mowry, is living with them because she is heading to Waverly University. Karsh, Pat Kelly, and Ileana, Leslie Seiler, show up and announce they are getting married, and that Miranda wants to see them.

Alex does not go because she does not want to miss her first day of classes, so Camryn goes by herself. She then meets a handsome man named Demetri, Chris Gallinger; she believes him to be a prince, but he is a powerless kitchen servant. At school, Alex meets Marcus, Nathan Stephenson, who is Camryn’s ex-boyfriend. He mistakes her for Camryn until Beth, Jackie Rosenbaum, tells him otherwise.

Alex and Camryn receive clues that their father is alive in the Shadowlands. Miranda believes that Thantos, Patrick Fabian, is becoming powerful again and wants the girls to use a vanquishing spell during a solar eclipse, when their powers will be at their strongest. If they perform the spell, everything in the Shadowlands will be destroyed, including their father Aron, Kevin Jubinville. Alex does not want to do it, but Camryn finishes the vanquishing spell. Alex finds a possible way to bring Aron from the Shadowlands but ends up bringing back Thantos. He goes off to destroy Aron’s Shadow, who was the shadow present on Earth. Camryn and Alex follow, and when Thantos takes Aron back to Coventry, everyone is locked out.

Demitri helps them get into the castle. When asked how, he reveals that Miranda returned his powers to him. Together as one, Camryn, Alex, and Miranda bring Aron back and he defeats Thantos, who falls down a portal, sending him to the afterlife.

Karsh and Ileana marry. Everyone is there: David Barnes, Arnold Pinnock, and Emily Barnes, Karen Holness, their housekeeper, and Beth and Marcus. Camryn and Demitri share a loving look. Then she waves to Beth while Marcus and Alex wink at each other. Marcus whispers to Beth: “I can’t believe you’re not more freaked out about this.” Beth replies, “What’s there to be freaked out about? I’m just jealous she’s got this much room in the back of her closet.” Karsh and Ileana exchange rings and Aron and Miranda pronounce them husband and wife. They kiss and have the reception. The twins, Ileana, Karsh, Emily, David, Miranda and Aron, are all chanting, Go Twitches, Go Twitches!

Twitches Too Plot Explained: Your Questions Answered

The questions people ask most about Twitches Too (2007): what happens in the confusing scenes, why the characters do what they do, the twists, hidden details and what the ending means. Each answer contains spoilers.

Q1

Why does Alex refuse to complete the vanquishing spell?

Alex refuses because the vanquishing spell would destroy the entire Shadowlands, including her and Camryn's father Aron, who is trapped there. While Miranda believes Thantos is growing too powerful and must be eliminated, Alex cannot stomach the idea of killing her own father to achieve it. Camryn ultimately decides to finish the spell despite Alex's objections.

Q2

What is the Shadowlands in the movie?

The Shadowlands is a magical dimension separate from both Earth and Coventry where souls can exist. This is where the twins' father Aron has been trapped, presumably after some prior magical conflict. The realm is connected to Coventry but exists as a kind of afterlife space where Thantos also resides when not on Earth.

Q3

How does Demitri get his powers back?

Demitri reveals that Queen Miranda returned his powers to him. Earlier in the film, he appeared to be a powerless kitchen servant when Camryn met him at school. His powers had apparently been taken or lost at some point, but Miranda chose to restore them, which enables him to help the twins breach the castle barriers later in the story.

Q4

Why does Alex accidentally bring back Thantos instead of Aron?

After Camryn casts the vanquishing spell, Alex discovers what she believes is a way to rescue their father Aron from the Shadowlands. However, her spell backfires and instead revives Thantos, the dark force they were trying to destroy. This mistake releases Thantos back into the world, allowing him to abduct Aron and escalate the threat.

Q5

Why must the vanquishing spell be cast during a solar eclipse?

Miranda explains that during a solar eclipse, the twins' magical powers reach their peak strength. The eclipse creates the optimal conditions for casting the powerful vanquishing spell needed to destroy Thantos, who is otherwise too strong to defeat. This time constraint creates urgency in the story.

Q6

What does Thantos want and why does he threaten Coventry?

Thantos is a dark magical force that poses a threat to both Coventry and Earth. He seeks to annihilate their world, and Miranda reveals he is growing powerful again after being previously defeated. His ultimate goal appears to be destruction of the magical realm and perhaps the twins themselves, making him the central antagonist.

Q7

What is the shadow that follows Miranda in the opening scene?

The shadow that lingers behind Miranda in King Aron's study is actually Thantos. This early appearance foreshadows that Thantos has already returned or was never fully defeated. Miranda's action of concealing the hidden doorway with magic creates a barrier that will become significant later when Thantos locks everyone out of the castle.

Q8

How do Camryn and Alex get into the castle after Thantos locks them out?

When Thantos takes Aron back to Coventry and locks everyone out of the castle, Demitri helps the twins get in. His newly restored powers allow him to breach the magical barriers that Thantos has put in place, giving them access to confront the villain and rescue their father.

Q9

Who defeats Thantos at the end of the movie?

Aron himself defeats Thantos. After Camryn, Alex, and Miranda work together to bring Aron back from the Shadowlands, he confronts Thantos directly. During their battle, Thantos falls down a portal that sends him to the afterlife, permanently eliminating the threat.

Q10

Why is Queen Miranda talking to King Aron's portrait?

Miranda speaks to Aron's portrait because he has been trapped in the Shadowlands since before the events of this film. She misses him deeply and confides in his portrait, showing her emotional connection to him despite his absence. This establishes their relationship and explains why rescuing him becomes so important.

Q11

Why does Marcus mistake Alex for Camryn at school?

Marcus is Camryn's ex-boyfriend and has never met her twin sister Alex before. When he encounters Alex at Waverly University, he naturally assumes she is Camryn due to their identical appearance. Beth quickly clarifies the mix-up, explaining that Alex is Camryn's twin who is also attending the school.

Q12

What magical abilities do the twins develop in the movie?

Their powers peak during a solar eclipse, making them strong enough to cast complex spells like the vanquishing spell.
