Lauren finally escapes the claustrophobic boiler room after a desperate scramble with a metal rod, a cracked pipe flooding the space and a loose wire threatening electrocution. In the chaos, the door gives way, crushing the men who had been hunting her. One of them, the private‑security head Kroft, collapses beneath the wreckage and, before he can recover, is shot dead by Loretta – the stray‑dog rescuer who has been tracking Georgie and has now stumbled into the cabin’s blood‑stained mess.
