In Bonnie’s living room, Trixie, a toy triceratops, is frustrated that Bonnie never depicts her as a dinosaur during playtime.
On December 27, two days after Christmas, Bonnie gathers [Trixie], Woody, and Buzz Lightyear for a playdate at her best friend Mason’s house. But the group ends up being drawn into Mason’s playroom and pulled into his new videogame console.
Inside Mason’s playroom, a colossal Battlesaurs setup dominates, led by the noble Reptillus Maximus and the shamanic The Cleric. Trixie is thrilled to act as a dinosaur, and she and Rex rally as warriors, while Woody and Buzz Lightyear are quickly pulled into the clash, unaware that they have already been captured. The Cleric condemns Trixie as a heretic for bearing Bonnie’s name on her foot, and she flees to seek Bonnie’s aid, with Reptillus on her heels. Trixie even shows him the packaging that identifies him as a toy, which fuels his anger.
In the arena, The Cleric seizes Rex’s armaments and forces him to seize Woody and Buzz. The group realizes the Cleric is aware they are toys, and with Mason distracted by the game, the Cleric tightens his grip on the playroom and plans to destroy Woody, Buzz, and Angel Kitty by tossing them into the air vent. In Mason’s bedroom, Reptillus confronts Trixie as she nears turning off the game. She explains the true meaning of playtime, and he reluctantly powers down the console.
Mason finds Reptillus, and the two begin playing with him, while Bonnie returns to regroup with the others. The children rejoin the playroom and rescue Woody, Buzz, and Angel Kitty, choosing to enjoy Battlesaurs and the other toys in non-combat settings.
Back at Bonnie’s house, Trixie tells the other toys that she is “Bonnie’s dinosaur,” embracing every role Bonnie assigns her. Angel Kitty offers one last moral and then vanishes, leaving the toys silent with bewilderment.
