Too Old for Fairy Tales

Waldek, a 10-year-old boy from Grochów, dreams of becoming a professional esports player. He often spends his time playing video games and participating in tournaments with his friends.

Waldek's life takes a turn when his eccentric aunt Mariola comes to visit. Her presence is unwelcome to Waldek, who perceives her as 'mentally unstable' and disruptive.

Teresa, Waldek’s overprotective mother, goes to an appointment at the hospital, leaving Mariola in charge. This leads to a day filled with chores and activities that interfere with Waldek's gaming.

Frustrated with Mariola's rules, Waldek sneaks off to the hospital at night to see his mother. His excitement quickly turns to despair when he learns about Teresa's condition.

After Rudy quits their gaming team to pursue a more professional opportunity, Waldek and Staszek search for a new member. Their quest leads them to a local swimming pool, where they meet Delfina.

Waldek develops feelings for Delfina during their initial encounter. Initially, Staszek is hesitant about her joining but quickly changes his mind when he discovers she also plays esports.

Mariola takes Waldek and Delfina on a day trip, presenting Waldek with the opportunity to confess his feelings. However, his attempt is thwarted when Delfina rejects him due to Staszek's prior interest.

Back home, Waldek is overwhelmed with disappointment and frustration. In a fit of anger, he crumples Delfina's application to join the team and tosses it in the bin.

Waldek decides to take a break from video games, driven by his struggles and emotions following his visit to his grandfather. He engages in various other activities with Mariola.

Staszek visits Waldek the next day to apologize for his earlier behavior. The two friends work through their issues and begin to reconcile.

Waldek learns that his mother Teresa's condition has started to improve. This news brings a sense of relief and hope to him, reigniting his passion for gaming.

In an effort to refresh their approach, Waldek renames their gaming team to 'Queen and Kings'. This decision reflects his newfound determination after reconciling with his friends.

Excitedly, Waldek and his team receive an invitation to participate in a major esports tournament taking place in Cologne. This marks a significant milestone in their gaming journey.

The day of departure arrives as Waldek, Staszek, and Delfina prepare to board their plane to Germany for the tournament. Teresa and Mariola watch with pride and encouragement.
