Tomie: Beginning

Tomie Kawakami transfers into the high school class, immediately drawing crushes from many boys, including their teacher. This attention angers most of the girls, who begin to alienate Tomie. Yet lone Reiko Matsuhara is intrigued and reaches out to her, sparking an unlikely friendship.

Reiko witnesses three girls bullying Tomie and isolating her. Tomie explains that she dislikes all boys and believes most will harm her after loving her. Reiko becomes fascinated and shares secrets with Tomie, forming a fragile alliance.

Tomie promises total revenge on her tormentors. After one bully is nearly killed by a crush under Tomie’s command, Tomie abducts the bully's two lackeys and feeds them worms and cockroaches, sending a traumatizing message.

Reiko reflects that Tomie took over the class, turning the boys antisocial and zombielike, while the girls sink into depression. Only Reiko remains curious about Tomie's true nature and continues to stay by her side.

Tomie attempts to seduce Mr. Takagi, the class teacher. Kenichi Yamamoto walks in, breaks them up, and accuses Tomie of cheating on him, escalating the conflict.

That night, Yamamoto's best friend Inoue and two other boys chase Tomie and Reiko as they walk home, intending to kill Tomie. Reiko protects her friend, but the attackers slash off Tomie's ear, retreating when they realize who she is. Tomie reveals the attackers' identities, and Reiko witnesses Tomie's severed ear sprout tiny limbs and crawl away.

Tomie refuses to be taken to the hospital and Reiko takes her home to tend to the wound. When Reiko changes the bandage later, she finds that Tomie's ear has completely regenerated. Tomie confirms her inhuman nature and hints at terrible things to come, promising to show Reiko what hell is really like.

That night, a second Tomie grows from the blood on Reiko's uniform, signaling Tomie's ability to replicate and her inhuman nature. Reiko realizes she is entangled in a terrifying, supernatural pattern.

Years later, only Yamamoto and Reiko attend the class reunion. Yamamoto reveals he came to learn more about Tomie and asks Reiko how their friendship began.

During the reunion, Yamamoto discovers a heart of Tomie in Reiko's bag. He kills Reiko when she refuses to surrender the heart, then runs off with the heart as it begins to regenerate.

Reiko comes back to life, revealing that Tomie has turned her into another clone of herself. The cycle of Tomie's resurrection and cloning continues, unsettling everyone involved.

Tomie chastises Yamamoto for his stupidity and says she will always return. As she begins to leave, Mr. Takagi returns and kills Tomie, pledging to kill her permanently.
