Janaki and Lalita are sisters who love each other dearly. Lalita and Ramu fall passionately in love with each other. Unknown to them, Janaki is also in love with Ramu.

When Lalita finds out, she decides to sacrifice her relationship with Ramu. In haste, she marries a good-for-nothing man, who is arrested by the police immediately afterward. Unaware of Lalita's true motive, Janaki and Ramu are furious with her.

Lalita moves away and is not seen for several years. Ramu and Janaki marry and live happily, with one sorrow: they cannot have children.

Many years later, Ramu meets Lalita again. She is working in an office and singlehandedly bringing up her son. To his shock, Ramu realizes that he is the father of Lalita's son. The child had been conceived in a moment of passion between Ramu and Lalita before they separated.

Ramu is torn between his loyalty to Janaki and the pull of affection towards his son. Janaki, now expecting a child, finds out about her sister's reappearance but misunderstands the whole situation. She begins to suspect Ramu and Lalita of cheating on her.

However, at last, all the misunderstandings are cleared up. The true extent of Lalita's sacrifice becomes known to Janaki, who feels very guilty. Janaki gives birth to a daughter and passes away, leaving the baby and Ramu in Lalita's care.

Q3

Why were Ramu and Janaki angry when Lalita left?

Q4

Why were Ramu and Janaki unable to have children?

Q6

Why did Ramu keep his son's existence hidden?

When Ramu discovered Lalita's son was his, he faced an impossible situation. Q7

Why did Janaki suspect Ramu of infidelity?

Janaki, now pregnant with Ramu's child, learned that Lalita had returned after years of absence. Without knowing the truth about Ramu's past with Lalita or the existence of the child, Janaki misinterpreted the situation.
