Timerider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann

Swann is a renowned dirt bike racer competing in the Baja 1000 in harsh desert conditions. His ride is plagued by high-tech gadgetry that keeps causing technical problems during the race.

During navigation of the race course, Swann accidentally encounters a time travel device using maser velocity acceleration. The device emits a surge of energy and a flash, hinting at a disturbance in time.

Swann is hurled backward in time and lands in the past, riding through a field before realizing he has arrived on November 5, 1877. He remains unaware of his own temporal displacement as he moves toward civilization.

Back at the lab, scientists quickly realize a rider from the future has vanished from the tracker. They acknowledge the time travel mishap and scramble to understand the anomaly and to locate Swann.

Swann stops at a pond to cool off, but a gang led by Porter Reese tracks him into the village of San Marcos. The outlaws want his motorcycle and will do anything to seize him.

Villagers mistake the red-suited rider for El Diablo, creating fear and confusion. Swann must adapt to a hostile reception while keeping his presence hidden.

Claire Cygne offers a safe hideout for Swann and proves helpful by wounding one of Reese's men, Carl Dorsett, during a confrontation. Their alliance grows as he tries to survive in the past.

Swann is seduced by Claire at gunpoint and the two sleep together, complicating their precarious alliance. Later, Claire is kidnapped by Reese's henchman Claude Dorsett as revenge for the shooting.

Reese's gang captures Swann's dirtbike, triggering a series of hijinks and pursuits as Swann and Claire become targets. The town edges deeper into conflict with the outlaw gang.

Two U.S. Marshals, Potter and Daniels, arrive to help capture or kill the gang. Potter carries a personal vendetta against Reese because Reese killed his son two years earlier.

Swann retrieves his dirtbike and rescues Claire from the outlaws. In the ensuing violence, Potter is killed by Reese in an ambush, and Daniels is mortally wounded and dies.

In the climactic standoff atop a plateau, Reese's men confront Swann and Claire. A rescue helicopter arrives to take Swann home, after which Reese is killed by the helicopter's tail rotor and Swann is extracted.

As the helicopter departs, Claire snatches a pendant from Swann, a family heirloom linked to the night they shared. Swann realizes he is his own great-great-grandfather, completing the time-loop paradox.
