Thugs of Hindostan

In 1795, Hindustan is under the oppressive rule of the British East India Company. The Company, driven by greed, aims to conquer the kingdom of King Mirza Sikander Baig, who is resolutely defending his territory.

Facing overwhelming odds, King Mirza sends his loyal general Khudabaksh and his son Aslam to seek assistance from the allied Kingdom of Durgapur. This desperate journey underscores the dire situation as Mirza prepares for an imminent conflict.

With Khudabaksh delayed, Mirza decides to take matters into his own hands and launches a preemptive attack on the British stronghold. This impulsive action sets off a chain of tragic events impacting his family and kingdom.

As Mirza prepares for battle, Clive surprises him by storming the palace with troops. Using Aslam as leverage, Clive binds him to a cannon, forcing Mirza into a position where he must sign a treaty under duress.

After Mirza reluctantly signs the treaty, Clive cruelly executes Aslam, causing deep sorrow and chaos. This heartbreaking moment culminates in Mirza's own death as the British forces overrun his kingdom.

In the aftermath of the violence, only Zafira Baig and Khudabaksh survive the catastrophic events. Khudabaksh adopts Zafira as his daughter, nurturing her with the skills necessary for warfare and survival.

Fast forward to 1806, Khudabaksh, now known as Jahaazi, has become a formidable leader of the Thugs specializing in sea combat. Together, they aggressively challenge British naval dominance by raiding their ships, symbolizing resistance.

Alarmed by the rising threat of the Thugs, Clive orders Captain James Powell to devise a strategy to eliminate them. This moment illustrates the precarious balance of power during these turbulent times.

Firangi Mallah, a cunning and unscrupulous conman, becomes embroiled in schemes involving both merchants and bandits. His reckless lifestyle leads him to encounter a captivating dancer named Suraiyya, complicating his allegiance.

As the British enlist Firangi's help against the Thugs with promises of wealth, he unwittingly becomes a pawn in their game. His alliances shift as he joins forces with Shanichar, the astrologer, fostering an uneasy partnership.

While infiltrating a British ship, Firangi is discovered and finds himself in dire straits. Just in time, Jahaazi arrives to battle the British forces, changing the tide of the conflict and saving Firangi unexpectedly.

As Firangi recuperates in Jahaazi’s sanctuary, a churning conflict brews within him. Torn between his betrayal of Jahaazi and a growing respect for him, he begins to act as an informant for the British, complicating his loyalties.

Sangram Singh's true intentions against the Thugs are revealed as he pretends to be their enemy. This duplicity reflects the complexities of loyalty and power within the ongoing struggle against the British.

Driven by vengeance, Zafira vows to seek justice against Clive for the destruction of her family. Her determination leads to an explosive confrontation during the annual Dussehra festival as she battles both Clive and her own past.

During the climactic battle at Mirza's historic fort, both Zafira and Jahaazi fight valiantly against overwhelming British forces. With the unexpected intervention of Firangi, the battle takes a turning point, highlighting shifting loyalties as Zafira achieves retribution.
