Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum

Sreeja and Prasad are newly married, originally from Cherthala, and now living in Kasaragod due to their families' opposition to inter-caste marriage. They face social pressure while beginning their life together. The setup establishes their precarious position and fragile dreams.

During a bus journey, a thief snatches Sreeja's gold nuptial chain from behind. She shouts for help, and fellow passengers beat the suspect before handing him over to the nearby police.

At the police inquiry, the thief claims his name is Prasad but provides no ID. He denies stealing the chain, while the couple explains that they intended to sell the chain to fund drilling a borewell for their tobacco-growing venture. The police keep the case under scrutiny because the incident happened in public.

ASI Chandran questions Sreeja's testimony, downplaying it to show the grounds are weak. He suggests keeping the thief at the station overnight until the chain turns up, and the couple reluctantly agrees.

Prasad stays behind to monitor the thief, while the thief appears carefree, eating and taking in news of a nearby temple inauguration. The contrast highlights the power dynamics at the police station during the investigation.

The next morning, officers escort the thief to a toilet, but no chain is found in his feces. An X-ray reveals the chain is inside his stomach, prompting the police to register an FIR against him.

ASI Chandran asks Sreeja and Prasad to twist the case in order to gain appreciation, a plan the thief seems to anticipate. The setup increases tension as the truth remains at stake.

The thief is escorted again to the toilet the next morning, attempts an escape, and the chase leads across solar panel fields. Prasad corners him at a canal and brings him back into custody.

Back at the station, the thief claims that ASI Chandran had told him to run and leave the chain behind at a bus stop. A subsequent scan finds no chain, deepening the case's trouble for the officers.

Following Chandran's instruction, Sreeja signs a document falsely stating that the chain was found by the police and belongs to her. Outside the room, the thief persuades them to tell the court that the chain does not belong to them and reveals where he threw it.

Heeding the thief's hint, Prasad searches the canal and retrieves the gold chain near the place indicated. The couple's hope clashes with the thief's manipulation.

The thief is shown as free and writes a thank-you note to Sreeja for her supposed truthfulness in court. ASI Chandran is seen with his grandchildren, implying retirement.

Sreeja and Prasad find water from the borewell and plan to harvest tobacco plants. The closing scenes show them hopeful about their future despite the looming corruption surrounding the case.
