Thillana Mohanambal

Sundaram, a devoted but hot-tempered nadaswaram player, meets Mohana, a Bharatanatyam dancer, and the two fall deeply for each other. Their romance is tested by social expectations and Mohana's mother's greed, which seeks a wealthy match for her daughter. This budding love sets the stage for ego, pride, and devotion to clash as the plot unfolds.

Mohana asks Sundaram to play a Thillana during her dance, hoping to showcase their talent. Mohana's mother, Vadivambal, pushes for a profitable match rather than true love, sowing distrust. This rift foreshadows the obstacles their romance will face from family expectations.

Unaware of Mohana's true feelings, Sundaram plans to flee the country with Karuppayi, a dancer he treats like a sister. Mohana confronts him, calling him a coward and daring him to stay, which he accepts. In a temple, Sundaram plays the Thillana while Mohana dances, and he bestows on her the title 'Thillana Mohanambal.'

Nagalingam, a landlord who wanted Mohana for himself, jealousy drives him to stab Sundaram with a poisoned knife. Sundaram survives the attack and is admitted to a hospital for treatment. The act sharpens the peril surrounding their romance and prompts new loyalties.

Mary, a compassionate nurse at the hospital, cares for Sundaram as he recovers from the stabbing. Her help becomes a turning point in his physical and emotional healing. Sundaram's reunion with Mohana remains distant as he regains his strength.

Sundaram and Mohana later perform together in a concert program, defying Vadivambal's wishes. Vaithi befriends the Maharaja of Madhanpur, using the scheme to promise Mohana as the Maharaja's mistress for his own gain. His plotting sets the trap that will threaten Mohana's integrity and their relationship.

Vaithi deceives Mohana by telling her that the Maharaja has invited the troupe to perform and that Sundaram will also attend. Believing the lure, Mohana agrees and the two set off for Madhanpur, where Vaithi's mistreatment of Sundaram's group begins. Mohana's presence in the Maharaja's palace triggers further tension as Sundaram confronts the possibility of betrayal.

The Maharaja pressures Mohana to become his mistress, but she rejects the advances. The Maharani intervenes and rescues Mohana from the unwanted attention, preserving her dignity. Sundaram remains misled, believing Mohana’s denial implies real interest in the Maharaja.

Devastated by the Maharaja's advances and Sundaram's growing insecurity, Mohana runs away in despair. Sundaram convinces himself that Mohana no longer loves him, deepening the rift between them. The relationship teeters on the edge as misunderstandings intensify.

The Maharaja reveals to Sundaram that Mohana refused his offer and that her affection remains for Sundaram alone. Realization dawns on Sundaram, rekindling his faith in Mohana. The revelation clears the air and sets the stage for reconciliation.

Sundaram rushes to her room when he finds Mohana attempting to hang herself, breaks down the door, and stops her from harming herself. He apologizes for doubting her love, vowing never to repeat the mistake. The moment marks a turning point in their reconciliation.

Sundaram and Mohana marry with Vadivambal's reluctant blessing, uniting their love through perseverance and forgiveness. Vaithi is arrested for his crimes, bringing the manipulative schemes to account. The couple's union is celebrated after a period of trials and misunderstandings.
