After enduring personal hardships, Eli (Lil Terselius) returns to her hometown in 1625 and takes work on Ingeborg Eriksdotter’s (Anita Björk) farm, tending the plot that once belonged to her family. The superstitious villagers view her with suspicion. Her ability to cure the sick with herbs and a romance with farmhand Aslak (Bjørn Skagestad) stir rumors of witchcraft. When a vindictive bailiff formally accuses her, Ingeborg fights to save her, while the stress drives Aslak to his death, casting a grim shadow over the looming trial.
