The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion

A young girl flees from a mysterious laboratory following a violent incident that results in many deaths. Dr. Baek and Mr. Choi, who run the lab, believe her to be dead and she is left to be found later by villagers. The girl collapses on a farm, where she is discovered and cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Goo, who decide to adopt her.

The girl, named Ja-yoon, spends a decade living a seemingly normal life with her adoptive family. She experiences severe headaches and struggles financially, while her mother shows early signs of dementia. Ja-yoon unknowingly possesses telekinetic abilities, which she keeps hidden.

To earn money, Ja-yoon auditions for a national singing contest. She impresses the judges with her unique talent – the ability to levitate her microphone through telekinesis. Her performance catches the attention of powerful individuals who later seek to recapture her.

On her way to the second round of the contest, Ja-yoon encounters a mysterious man called Nobleman, who claims to know her past. Their interaction hints at her hidden history and the secrets of her origins.

After her audition, Ja-yoon narrowly escapes being kidnapped by Dr. Baek's men. Later, armed assailants break into her home, holding her family hostage. Ja-yoon retaliates with her superhuman strength and speed, defeating the attackers and emerging shaken but uninjured.

Ja-yoon is captured and taken to the laboratory owned by Dr. Baek. She is restrained and injected with a blue serum, which temporarily halts her deadly disease but makes her dependent on ongoing treatments. Dr. Baek reveals her genetic modifications and the origin of her powers.

Post-injection, Ja-yoon's demeanor changes as she reveals she has always known her past. She learns about her terminal disease and her need for further treatment. She decides to find the original serum producer, driven by the desire for a cure.

Using her enhanced abilities, Ja-yoon escapes her bonds, kills her guards, and confronts Dr. Baek. She demands to know where the serum is produced. During the chaos, she kills Mr. Choi, kills Dr. Baek, and burns down the laboratory to prevent further misuse of her powers.

After her escape, Ja-yoon visits her parents, giving her father some serum vials to help slow her mother’s dementia. Her father hints that he had always suspected her special abilities, providing emotional closure and support for her ongoing struggle.

Three months later, Ja-yoon locates Dr. Baek's twin sister, providing her with more serum vials. She remains vigilant, aware of potential threats, as a mysterious scarred woman approaches her, foreshadowing new dangers.

The film ends with Ja-yoon threatening a scarred woman to prevent her from touching her, indicating unresolved issues and the presence of new antagonists. The scene closes on a suspenseful note, suggesting ongoing conflicts.
