The Toxic Avenger

In St. Rosa’s Village, the Killer Nutz storm the BTH factory and shoot Mel Ferd multiple times, but he keeps taunting them as he rises again. A harpoon blasts him through a window, killing him for good. J.J. Doherty flees the scene after witnessing her mentor’s death.

Robert Garbinger runs BTH with Kissy Sturnevan and knows J.J. has evidence against the company. Fritz handles dirty work with gangsters and arranges the hit on J.J. They decide to send the Killer Nutz after her to silence the disclosure.

Winston Gooze works as a janitor at the BTH plant and is Wade's widowed stepfather. Wade dreams of performing at school but struggles with stage fright and a distant relationship with Winston. The two share a tense, fragile bond as they navigate their imperfect family dynamic.

Winston discovers an aggressive brain tumor, leaving him with roughly a year to live. His attempt to secure health coverage through his company fails, exposing the cold indifference of the system. He tries to cheer Wade by dancing in a tutu, but Wade remains uninterested.

Winston attends a dinner with Garbinger and Kissy, hoping to gain support for his health needs. The powerful guests dismiss him and mock his illness, offering no real help. The scene underscores Garbinger’s corrupt circle and the callousness toward ordinary people.

Winston sneaks into BTH with a plan to rob the place by dipping his mop in radioactive sludge and using the threat to force a payout. J.J. is at the scene gathering evidence and the chaos leads to the loss of her evidence in the commotion. The money is burned as the attempt collapses.

The Killer Nutz arrive to kill J.J. but shoot Winston instead, prompting Fritz to scold them for targeting the wrong person. They dump Winston’s body and his mop into a pool of toxic sludge. The scene marks Winston’s first mutation-driven death and the start of Toxie’s evolution.

Winston emerges from the sludge mutated, with his left eye turning black and his skin green and splotchy. He returns home, but Wade calls 911 when his stepdad never arrives. In the street confrontation, Spence Barkabus shoots him, but the bullets are expelled from his body and he heals.

Winston retreats to the woods with Guthrie Stockins, deciding to reveal his true self to Wade. Back in town, a right-wing group called The Nasty Lads protests at Miss Meat and takes diners hostage. Winston enters with his radioactive mop and defeats the group, freeing the hostages.

The public dubs him Toxic Avenger, or Toxie, and he becomes a local hero. Garbinger realizes Toxie is Winston and fears his power, while Fritz reveals that Toxie has a son. J.J. tracks Wade to Winston’s apartment and learns his identity.

The Killer Nutz abduct Wade and J.J. arrives to rescue him but is shot in the abdomen during the escape. Toxie intervenes by using his regenerative blood to heal J.J. and guides them toward safety in the woods. The confrontation cements Toxie as a protector and signals the looming showdown.

Toxie and J.J. attempt to storm the Garbinger compound, where Garbinger uses a serum derived from Toxie’s blood to become a Krampus-like monster. He kills Thad and his thugs in a brutal fight that raises the stakes for Wade’s safety. The monster Garbinger finally confronts Toxie in a climactic clash.

In the final confrontation, Wade survives the explosion and joins the fight. Toxie impales Garbinger with his mop and crashes him into the car hood, while Kissy mutates and watches. J.J. starts the engine, shredding Garbinger as Kissy dies in the ensuing fire.

Toxie wakes in the hospital with the same diagnosing doctor and a rescued hostage who treated by Winston's actions. Garbinger’s crimes are exposed and authorities arrest Mayor Togar and others, while some survivors remain under investigation. The doctor reveals that Toxie’s mutation cured his tumor, ensuring he won’t die, and Wade and J.J. part on good terms.

During the credits, Wade performs at the school’s talent show while Toxie watches proudly. The final text hints that Toxie may return in a sequel if the movie makes a billion dollars in crypto.
