The Snow Queen

Ellie, Tom, and Polly gather around as their grandmother begins reading the tale of a powerful and evil Snow Queen. The story is told as a bedtime tale that stirs their imagination and fear. Tom insists the Queen only exists in the story, while Ellie wonders what would happen if she were real.

The Snow Queen plans to mount a giant magic mirror on a mountain to reflect sunlight away from the world. The mirror crashes and shatters into pieces; two shards strike Tom in the eye and the heart, cursing him and turning his spirit cold. The Queen attempts to recover the shards with bats, but they cannot remove the two pieces embedded in Tom.

The Snow Queen goes out to kidnap Tom herself after realizing the bats can’t take the embedded pieces. She travels to the siblings and brings Tom to her icy palace, severing Ellie from him. Ellie is left fearful and determined as Tom falls under the Queen's influence.

Ellie is cut off from Tom and falls onto a talking sparrow named Peeps. Peeps reluctantly joins Ellie on her quest to rescue Tom. The two set out into the snowy world, united by a common goal.

In a snowy forest, Ellie and Peeps encounter a sly witch who traps them to use Ellie's heart for an elixir of life. Peeps tricks the witch's cat into chasing him and knocking over the elixir, creating a distraction that lets Ellie free herself. They trap the witch and her cat in the basement, allowing them to escape.

Ellie and Peeps meet two humanoid ravens named Les and Ivy, who warn that Tom is destined to marry the Princess. To survive in the palace, Ellie becomes a member of the staff serving the Princess, though the Prince is not Tom. Ellie contends with the deception while clinging to hope for Tom.

Tom continues rebuilding the Snow Queen's mirror, proving adept at puzzles. The Queen plots to kill him to obtain the final two pieces and attempts to sway him with a kiss that triggers a hypnotic trance while ice runs through his veins. Ellie learns of the danger and redoubles her efforts to reach him.

The Princess and Prince provide Ellie and Peeps with a royal vehicle to travel toward the Snow Queen's dominion, but they encounter a gang of humanoid robber rats led by the Robber King. Ellie is captured and locked in a room with Dimly, a flying reindeer. Peeps frees Ellie and Dimly, and together they escape the camp.

Dimly flies to a flying reindeer school run by Freda, an old Lapland woman, to seek help. Freda agrees to help and guides them toward the Snow Queen's castle, where they hope to reunite with Tom. On the way, they meet allies who will aid in the final rescue.

Freda explains that the two mirror pieces inside Tom will kill him unless dissolved and creates a potion to dissolve the mirror. Ellie urges Tom to drink, but the Snow Queen blasts the vial away with her staff, sparking the climactic confrontation. The stage is set for a last stand to save Tom.

The battle rages as the Snow Queen freezes Eric and Freda, and Baggy and Wardrobe seize the staff. The vial falls onto the mirror and shatters it, dissolving the mirror and causing an icy cyclone to chase the Queen's carriage. The pieces inside Tom dissolve, breaking the curse and freeing him; Freda and the trolls are unfrozen.

Freda warns that the Snow Queen is not destroyed and may return in the future. Dimly returns Ellie, Tom, and Peeps to the village, while Freda and the trolls remain to recover and prepare for any future threat. The heroes carry the promise of safety but a lingering menace remains.

Dimly crash-lands in the village, leaving Ellie, Tom, and Peeps to listen to the rest of the story with their grandmother. Dimly then heads back toward the Snow Queen's palace, continuing his own journey toward destiny.

The film ends with a close-up of the frozen Snow Queen's eyes lighting up ominously, hinting at a future return. Ellie, Tom, and Peeps resume the tale, left to wonder what happens next and whether the Queen will reappear.
