The Polar Bear King

In the far north, a wise king rules Winterland with three daughters. The two older daughters lack depth, but the youngest is kind, brave, and yearns to live among flowers. Her dream hints at the adventures to come.

Far to the south, young prince Valemon ascends to kingship. He rules with reluctance toward power and rejects the idea of marrying a witch who covets control. The witch queen plots to rule the world by forcing him into an unwanted union.

The witch queen curses Valemon, turning him into a polar bear by day. She gives him seven years to find someone to fall in love with him; if a mortal sees his human face before the time ends, he must marry the witch. Thus, a terrible deadline binds his fate to love and peril.

The enchanted bear travels north, seeking Winterland and a chance to break the curse. The journey is perilous, yet he clings to hope that love will restore his humanity. Along the way, he meets the young princess who can speak to animals.

The princess speaks to the bear and learns he is not a beast at all but the king of Summerland, cursed into animal form. She is moved by the sight of Summerland’s flowers reflected in his eyes. She agrees to accompany him to Summerland as his wife, hoping to end the curse.

The couple arrives in Summerland, only to face further malice from the witch. The king’s mother, who has magic of her own, intervenes to thwart the witch’s schemes. Even as they have a child, the child disappears into safety, while the princess grieves for what has happened to their family.

Hearing of their plight, the Winterland king sends a special gift to the princess and asks her to visit him. The father's love strengthens her and restores her resolve. With renewed hope, she continues the quest to rescue Valemon.

The sisters' manipulation leads the princess to light a candle in hopes of revealing Valemon’s human face. As soon as the candle burns, the witch appears and claims Valemon for herself. This marks a cruel turning point that drives the princess to risk everything to save him.

Grief-fueled, the princess sets off to free him and seeks aid from the queen mother and her three children. Each offers magical gifts: scissors that conjure things, boots that climb walls, and a rug that makes food appear when clapped. Armed with these tools, she journeys toward the witch’s kingdom.

At the witch’s kingdom, the princess disguises herself as a boy and sews a wedding dress for the witch. Valemon pretends to suffer from a potion the witch had secretly spilled, to reinforce their ruse. They prepare to crash the wedding and turn the spell against the witch.

During the wedding, the princess slips into the lab and switches the guests’ wine with the antidote potion. Valemon remains unaffected by the potion and the witch’s control begins to slip. With the witch defeated and the slaves freed, the couple is finally reunited with their children.

The freed family returns to Winterland and is welcomed by the king. Love and courage triumph as the curse is broken and the family is united with their realm, signaling a new era of peace between Winterland and Summerland.
