The Nun II

In the climax of “The Nun 2,” Irene and her allies confront the possessed Frenchie, who has become a vessel for the demon that once was an angel rejected by God. The demon seeks the eyes of St. Lucy, which hold great symbolic power and are connected to her family lineage—descendants who have visions, including Irene herself. As the battle rages, Irene is able to retrieve the eyes and, with her faith and love, she fights to banish the evil. When the demon tries to overpower her, Irene calls upon her inner strength rooted in her heritage as a descendant of St. Lucy, refusing to burn and instead igniting her faith. She ultimately turns the wine in the school—once a winery—into the blood of Christ through prayer, which destroys the demon and restores peace. This act of faith not only banishes the evil but also signifies the power of love and belief to overcome darkness.

The film hints at a broader connection within the Conjuring universe. In a mid-credits scene, we see the Warrens receiving a call, and Sophie, a young girl from the story, looks into a room and somehow sees the nun in Warren’s house—similar to visions experienced by Lorraine and Judy in previous films. This suggests that Sophie, like Irene and Lorraine, might also be a descendant of St. Lucy, possessed of the same prophetic visions or special powers. The ending emphasizes that faith, love, and the bond between people are the strongest weapons against evil, and that these connections extend across generations, linking everyone in the ongoing fight between good and evil.
