Pippi Longstocking arrives after a treacherous storm on the Hoptoad, traveling with her sailor father, Capt. Elfraim Longstocking. A violent volcanic eruption triggers chaos at sea, and when her father disappears into the waves, the resourceful girl lands in the small coastal town of Rocksby, escorted by her bold horse Alfonso and his clever companion Mr. Nilsson. She moves into Villa Villekulla, a house the locals jokingly claim is haunted, and the neighborhood kids watch with a mix of curiosity and superstition.

Soon Tommy Settigren and Annika Settigren venture into the house after catching lights flickering in every window. They expect to meet ghosts, but instead they meet Pippi, along with her two unusual friends, and a string of lively adventures begins to unfold. The trio bakes pancakes, cleans the floor with oversized scrubbing shoes, and even volunteers ice cream to residents of the local children’s home. They hop onto a motorcycle for a thrill, and they dodge the playful mischief of “splunks” as if danger were just another game. Pippi’s fearless independence draws them into a bond that feels like a new family, and the days in Rocksby bloom with spontaneous fun and a sense of boundless possibility.

Yet the cheerful mischief is balanced by looming trouble. Mr. Dan Blackheart and his henchmen conspire to demolish Villa Villekulla and sell the land, threatening the little sanctuary that Pippi has claimed as her own. Miss Bannister, the stern owner of the children’s home, presses to move Pippi into the home, seeking to place her among the other orphans. Facing this pressure, Pippi plots a daring escape with Tommy and Annika, building a homemade autogyro to flee the threat rather than surrender her freedom. The escape rides a perilous current, nearly tumbling over a waterfall as they navigate a river in barrels, and they are rescued from disaster by a mix of luck and fast thinking.

Back in town, Miss Bannister’s guilt-tripping pushes Pippi toward the children’s home, and she must leave behind her beloved Mr. Nilsson and Alfonso. The separation proves hard for the fearless girl, whose unorthodox ways make it hard for her to fit into conventional routines. Yet hope returns when she sends a message in a bottle to her father, and the town begins to rally around her. A fire accidentally started by the janitor at the home becomes a catalyst for action, and Pippi’s quick courage helps save two orphans, earning the townspeople’s admiration and validating her resolve to stay connected to the life she built at Villa Villekulla.

On Christmas Day, Pippi is joyfully reunited with Capt. Elfraim Longstocking. He presents a magical offer: the chance to become a cannibal princess of an uncharted island, a dream built from his own memories of adventure. She listens with a brave heart, appreciating the possibility but recognizing what truly matters. She decides to stay because she cannot bear to leave Tommy and Annika behind. He understands, telling her that he loves her, and sails away with a hopeful farewell, promising that if she ever needs anything, she knows where to find him. With that final blessing, Pippi returns home to Villa Villekulla, heading there with Tommy Tommy Settigren, Annika Annika Settigren, and her faithful companions, Mr. Nilsson and Alfonso, ready to continue their extraordinary life together.
