The Nasty Girl

A German high school student, Sonja, Lena Stolze in a fictionalized portrait of Anna Rosmus, wins an essay contest and embarks on a trip to Paris. When Martin Wegmus, Robert Giggenbach, arrives to teach physics at Sonja’s school, one of her classmates falls for him, and a shy, almost accidental, kiss marks the beginning of a complicated dynamic. The hostility from the community intensifies into threats and physical intimidation, and the pressure to abandon her work grows ever heavier. The family survives a bomb attack, a stark reminder of the era’s lingering peril, yet Sonja’s resolve remains unshaken and her research continues to push forward.
