Devon Adams and his friend Jamal Quezaire venture into the world of urban legends by staging a fake monster sighting. They record their efforts and share them online, hoping to attract a large audience to their paranormal adventures.

Inspired by their initial success, Devon envisions a new direction for their endeavors by creating a show titled 'The Monster Project'. He takes the initiative to post an advertisement on Craigslist, inviting anyone who claims to be a real monster in Los Angeles to contact them.

Meanwhile, Jamal's roommate Bryan Jay, who is on the path to recovery from addiction, records a sobriety video for his parents. His filming is temporarily interrupted by his friend Murielle Zuker, showcasing his struggles and the relationships around him.

Devon and Jamal travel to a Navajo reservation looking for more substance for their project. Here, they meet Steven Flores, a police officer who identifies as a skinwalker, though Jamal fails to capture this unique moment on camera due to low battery.

Back at Jamal’s apartment, the duo is contacted by a tattoo artist named Shayne Eastin who claims to be a vampire. They engage in an unusual negotiation for an interview that leads to a blood sample being procured from Bryan.

After procuring the blood sample, Devon, Jamal, and Bryan head to the park to drop it off as previously arranged. However, when they arrive, they find that the vial has mysteriously vanished, prompting Bryan to caution the group about the dangers of their project.

That night, Jamal receives a bizarre DVD from a woman named Shiori Ideta, who claims to be under the influence of a demon named Baphomet. This unexpected delivery adds to the group's intrigue but also increases their apprehension about the supernatural elements they are dealing with.

During Bryan's birthday party, Devon takes the opportunity to apologize for his previous comments about Bryan's addiction. He also offers Bryan a role as a production assistant on 'The Monster Project', showcasing their evolving friendship.

In search of authentic interviews, Devon, Jamal, Murielle, and Bryan arrive at a hauntingly old mansion for a night filled with supernatural exploration. The caretaker, Richard, shares the mansion's dark history, revealing connections to satanic rituals which sets an ominous tone for the evening.

As the night progresses, the crew experiences unsettling supernatural disturbances while preparing for their interviews. Steven’s chilling account of becoming a skinwalker through a devilish pact leaves everyone on edge as they navigate this eerie environment.

During Shayla’s interview, Bryan becomes confrontational after she reveals tasting drugs from his blood, leading to conflicts within the group. This argument intensifies the overall tension amid increasing paranormal happenings around them.
