The Martial Artist

Robbie Oakes, a high school student from Cleveland, struggles after the death of his mother. His resulting behavior leads him into constant trouble with the law, forcing his family to take drastic action.

After Robbie's latest run-in with the law, his grandmother decides she's had enough. He is sent to live with his aunt Cindy and uncle Glen in Cocoa Beach, Florida, in hopes of straightening him out.

On his first night in Cocoa Beach, Robbie sneaks out to a local convenience store. There he encounters Rina, but the situation turns hostile when her boyfriend Bo punches him in the face.

The next day at school, Robbie faces further humiliation when Bo pushes him into the girls' restroom. This bullying initiates Robbie's anxiety about his new environment.

At lunch, Robbie meets Lenny, who becomes his first friend in Cocoa Beach. Lenny notices Robbie's black eye and encourages him to learn self-defense.

Cindy invites Robbie to lunch at her local restaurant, but their meal is interrupted by a thug. When Robbie tries to stand up to him, the thug pulls out a knife, but Cindy defends herself with martial arts skills.

The following day, Robbie approaches Glen, asking to learn martial arts. Initially hesitant, Glen agrees after Robbie expresses his desire to change and not be a victim anymore.

While shopping for a bike, Glen confronts a bully bothering the shop owner, who turns out to be Rina's father. This encounter not only empowers Robbie but also strengthens his bond with Glen.

During his training, Robbie discovers Dojo Extreme and meets Coach Laurent Kaine, who promotes a more aggressive style of martial arts. He learns that Bo is a student there, and he chooses to leave the dojo.

At a Halloween party, Robbie confesses his feelings for Rina, who has been abandoned by Bo. The following day, Rina acknowledges her feelings for Robbie, and they start dating, escalating the tension with Bo.

When Lenny is attacked by goons at the beach, Cindy intervenes. She invites Lenny to the dojo where Robbie teaches him self-defense principles, reinforcing the importance of martial arts.

After Rina informs Robbie that Bo has hurt her, he becomes furious and seeks out Bo's friends for information. A fight breaks out at a pizza parlor, and Robbie gains popularity after a viral video surfaces.

Robbie confronts Bo at Dojo Extreme, leading to a chaotic fight between the two dojos. With his friends and training family supporting him, Robbie defeats Bo in a cage match, marking a turning point in his life.

After the battle, Glen manages to defeat Coach Kaine, showcasing the rivalry's conclusion and a lesson about mutual respect. The atmosphere shifts as Robbie celebrates a new sense of identity.

Two weeks later, while enjoying time at the beach with his new family and friends, Robbie and his group are watched from a distance by Frank Whitlaw, Bo's father, who vows revenge. This indicates ongoing challenges for Robbie and his allies.
