This drama recounts the story of physician and politician MUDr. František Kriegel, a key figure in the 1968 Prague Spring. Arrested and secretly transported to Moscow along with other leaders like Dubček, he became the only Czechoslovak politician to defy Soviet leader Brezhnev during his captivity. Facing the threat of elimination, Kriegel refused to sign the Moscow Protocol, a document that would have formally approved the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia.
