The Last Voyage of the Demeter

On August 6, 1897, the merchant vessel Demeter mysteriously arrives at the English shore. The ship leaves behind a trail of destruction and chaos, prompting police investigation into what might have transpired during the voyage.

About a month earlier, the Demeter docks in Varna, Bulgaria, to gather cargo intended for London. The crew encounters resistance from local workers who refuse to load large wooden crates, expressing an urgent need to leave the area before nightfall.

During this loading process, a skilled doctor named Clemens, educated at Cambridge University, offers to join the Demeter's crew. Although initially turned down for a position, he saves Captain Eliot's grandson Toby from a dangerous situation, leading to his appointment as the ship's doctor.

While sailing across the Aegean Sea, a shocking event occurs when one of the crates bursts open in the cargo hold, revealing a woman buried in dirt. Clemens instigates blood transfusions to revive her, suspecting she is infected.

As the crew continues their journey, Clemens and Olgaren start experiencing strange phenomena, including sightings of a shadowy figure on the foggy deck. This ominous presence begins to instill dread among the crew, as they struggle to understand what is happening.

A sense of dread deepens when every animal onboard, including the ship's beloved dog Huckleberry, meets a grisly fate. The crew, fearing rabies, discards the remains overboard, heightening the atmosphere of terror.

In a critical moment, Anna, a clandestine stowaway, awakens and warns the crew of Dracula, a monster from Transylvania that preys on human blood. She reveals her past as a blood slave, imploring them to take the threat seriously as multiple bite marks scar her body.

As night falls, Dracula initiates his hunt, turning Olgaren into one of his vampiric thralls. The ensuing chaos culminates in Olgaren cornering Toby in the captain's quarters, resulting in a desperate struggle between the crew and the unleashed horror.

In a heartbreaking twist, the crew's efforts to protect Toby fail when he himself is bitten. Despite Captain Eliot's desperate attempts to save him through blood transfusions, Toby succumbs to the vampiric curse as morning arrives.

Faced with the urgency of stopping Dracula, the surviving crew decides to destroy the ship as their last resort. However, tragedy befalls them as Captain Eliot, Abrams, and Wojchek fall prey to the vampire's wrath during their plan.

A fierce battle ignites between Clemens and Dracula as Clemens swings an axe, allowing Anna to finally strike the creature down with a shattered mast. Though they believe they've triumphed, they leap overboard, unaware of Dracula's survival.

Finding temporary refuge on flotsam, Anna reveals her imminent transformation into a vampire, torturing Clemens with the knowledge that she is now doomed. In a heartbreaking decision, she chooses to self-immolate at dawn, while Clemens survives by drifting to shore.

After floating to shore, Clemens arrives in London where he takes a moment to grieve and reflect in a local tavern. While sketching Anna’s likeness, he hears a familiar tapping signal from the Demeter's crew, yet is soon confronted by Dracula, now disguised as an aristocrat.

With determination renewed, Clemens resolves to avenge his fallen comrades. He departs the tavern with a fierce heart, prepared to confront and send Dracula back to the depths of Hell, signaling a new chapter in this relentless hunt.
