The Invoking 2

Sam inherits the rural house at Sader Ridge from an estranged aunt and invites her friends Mark, Caitlin, and Roman to join her. She meets neighbor Eric, who offers a tour of the property and helps set a wary mood for their stay. The arrangement opens a chapter filled with unease and anticipation.

Eric accompanies the group on a property tour and shares stories about the house. He reveals that Sam was born there and spent her first five years in the same place, a memory that feels oddly foreign to her. He also mentions that her aunt died in the house, casting a quiet shadow over their arrival.

As evening deepens, Mark vanishes and the group splits to search for him. Eric volunteers to help, leaving Sam and Roman at the house. Sam wakes to the screech of a car alarm and discovers Roman missing; when the others arrive, Roman appears on the front steps in a dazed state, as if the night itself unsettled him.

The next day, Mark and Caitlin head to the garage to investigate sounds they heard earlier, while Sam feels unsettled and misreads danger. Roman discovers that Mark and Caitlin are secretly together, a revelation that fuels his jealousy since he also likes Caitlin. Tensions rise as hidden feelings come to light and threaten group dynamics.

That night, Sam wakes to shouting and discovers Mark violently beating Caitlin, then Mark turns on Sam and shoves her out of the room. The others return to the living room and act as if nothing happened, leaving Sam isolated in fear and confusion about what is really occurring inside the house.

In the early morning, Sam experiences a nightmare in which Mark acts as a harsh father figure, punishing her with cigarette burns. Eric then explains more about Sam's troubled past when she mentions the nightmare, deepening the sense that the house dredges up memories she can't fully access. The tension in the house thickens.

Tension erupts outside as Roman and Mark argue after Caitlin and Mark stay up all night drinking. Roman drives toward the gate and, at the gate, Eric steps forward, opens the gate, and unexpectedly stab Roman several times before slipping away into the trees. Sam later finds Roman lying bloodied in front of Eric's car.

Eric returns inside the house and confronts Sam with a grim calm. Caitlin is attacked by Eric and killed, then he disappears into the woods. Sam finds Mark standing over Caitlin’s lifeless body and, in a panic, stabs Mark, believing him responsible. Eric consoles Sam as she breaks down.

An officer arrives and asks about the four missing students—Mark, Caitlin, Roman, and Sam. Eric claims he has not seen any of them and sends the officer away, effectively controlling what others hear. Inside, Sam greets Eric with a kiss, leaving the situation suspended in ambiguity.

With the four missing students unaccounted for, the investigation stalls and the house seems to hold its breath. Eric's evasive actions and Sam's growing bond with him hint at a dark dynamic still at play. The film closes on an unsettled, open-ended note rather than a clear resolution.

Fragments hint that Sam's sense of self is intertwined with Sader Ridge, not wholly aligned with her memories. The haunted property and Eric's unpredictable violence deepen the mystery surrounding who Sam really is. The narrative leaves the truth deliberately incomplete.
