The Incredible Melting Man

During a space flight to Saturn, three astronauts are exposed to a blast of radiation. The radiation kills two of them and leaves Colonel Steve West seriously injured. West later wakes in a hospital on Earth to find the flesh on his face and hands melting away.

West wakes in an Earth hospital and is horrified by the melting flesh that covers his face and hands. In a panic he attacks and kills a nurse named Bonnie Inch. He escapes from the hospital into the night.

Dr. Loring and Dr. Ted Nelson examine the nurse's corpse and realize it is emitting feeble radiation. They deduce that West's body has become radioactive. Nelson concludes that West may be insane and even considers cannibalism as a way to slow the melting.

Nelson calls General Michael Perry, an Air Force officer familiar with West's accident, and the general agrees to help locate him. They coordinate a search effort.

West moves through a wood and kills a fisherman. He then encounters a little girl named Carol and frightens her, but she escapes unharmed.

Sheriff Blake arrives at the crime scene and finds the bodies of Helen and Harold. He calls Nelson to report the discovery.

Blake demands an explanation, and Nelson reluctantly reveals West's radioactive condition and the danger he poses. The men realize West may be getting stronger as his body decomposes.

Back at Nelson's house, West attacks and kills General Perry. Judy, Nelson's wife, is not harmed during the incident.

West stumbles upon the home of a married couple. He kills the man and attacks the wife, but she drives him away after chopping his arm off with a cleaver.

Blake and Nelson track West to a giant power plant, hoping to end the rampage once and for all.

The sheriff tries to shoot West with a shotgun, but West throws Blake into power lines, killing him in a shocking display of power.

West knocks Nelson over a railing, leaving the doctor hanging. Nelson pleads that they were friends, and West pulls him to safety.

Two armed security guards arrive in a panic and fatally shoot Nelson as he tries to protect West. West then kills the guards in a frenzy and staggers away.

West collapses against a building and completely melts away. A janitor finds his gory remains and mops them into a garbage can as radio reports announce the next crewed mission to Saturn.
