In 1955, deep underground in a Nevada desert bunker, Brian Bell Brian Bremer and Peggy Bell Stacy Edwards become subjects of a top-secret experiment named Operation Samson. Exposed to a massive nuclear blast as part of a study on immune substances against radiation, they survive the detonation and are later celebrated as national heroes. Their moment of triumph quickly clashes with a troubling discovery: Peggy’s pregnancy raises alarms among high-ranking military and nuclear scientists. The decision around Peggy’s pregnancy is fraught with unease, and the baby—David—receives a battery of tests that pass as “healthy,” save for a slightly elevated temperature. In a grim turn of fate, the same day sees the death of his parents, who succumb to spontaneous human combustion, a fate known as the Fire Syndrome.

As the years pass, the newborn’s arc becomes a chilling transformation. David, grown into the adult known as Sam Brad Dourif, teaches in California, but his life carries a terrible secret. He begins to suffer from spontaneous bursts of fire—pyrokinesis—triggered by emotional distress, a power capable of unleashing flames and even bending electrical currents to his will. The burden of this gift weighs on him as he seeks a way to live with it and protect those around him, especially as the flames threaten to spiral out of control.

Desperate for help, Sam turns to Lisa Cynthia Bain, a woman whose own family bears the scars of the same fate. Together, they confront a deeply rooted conspiracy and the people behind the experiments that have governed Sam’s life since birth. Their uneasy alliance points to a larger truth: the researchers and doctors have used Sam as a tool, and their plans extend beyond merely observing him. Dr. Marsh Jon Cypher, a doctor involved in the scheme, becomes a sinister figure who intends to terminate Sam, revealing a chilling willingness to erase the very person they have kept alive for study.

What follows is a harrowing clash between a man and the system that trained him to distract from his own humanity. Sam fights back, wielding his fiery powers to strike down those who seek to eliminate him, all while watching as his abilities push him toward dangerous extremes. The threats reach out to innocent bystanders as his grip on control loosens, painting a grim portrait of power without mercy.
