The Hound of the Baskervilles

The hound appears and attacks Sir Henry, but Holmes shoots it, revealing it to be a masked ordinary dog. Stapleton lunges at Watson and is wounded by a shot; the hound fatally mauls Stapleton. Cecile slips into the Grimpen Mire and sinks as the heroes prevent further tragedy.

Back in Baker Street, Sir Henry presents Holmes with the stolen portrait of Sir Hugo found on Stapleton’s farm. The case closes as Sir Charles’s death is no longer linked to a supernatural hound, but to human treachery. Holmes and Watson share a moment of quiet victory.
